As z CB, thoughts on Harry Darling? Any better than what we already have or should we be aiming for someone like Callum Doyle?
Would take Doyle any day but don't think we can afford him.

I heard something today about simms that may or may not have been from the mouth himself .

Would I be correct in thinking there's something potentially going on / relocation
Would be best for both parties. We all have different opinions, which is what makes football so good but I genuinely see him being a lower end champ player at best. I have really struggled with him from day one and don’t think he’s improved in the two years he’s been here.

Apparently after not featuring in the playoffs Simms told Lampard in no uncertain terms to go F himself.
Obviously not supporting the behaviour but imagine sitting on the bench for two games plus extra time, while the striker ahead of you, puts in that abysmal effort.

I’d be pissed too. Least if true, Simms will be pushing to leave

To be fair, he’s only got himself to blame. He’s been just as atrocious for the majority of the season.

yes exactly.

simms had an interview at Halfords as another applicant dropped out. Lampard refused to give him permission to go to it as he wanted him for the playoff games, and he didn’t even play him.

I'd be frustrated not featuring in the playoffs but to tell your manager to go fuck himself is the final straw for him at the club.

When Kitch went through that spell of being poor he got his head down and worked away determined to get back in the team and show everyone he's a good defender, Simms could of took that being overlooked for the 2 legs and gone "right I'm going to prove Lampard wrong, I'm going to go away in the summer and come back hungrier then ever to prove him wrong", obviously if the club doesn't sell him but now they will

is that what people are claiming

unlikely

It’s more than we’ve sort of bumbled our way in just over the line with other teams falling over themselves to avoid the playoffs rather than built a solid team that looks formidable even like early Sunderland. I’d like to see a sustained push and us putting more teams to the sword before I was confident of winning the POs, 5th and 6th rarely do well as they’re usually the best of the rest along with down to about 12th.

5th wins more often than 4th!
And even though they started well the two finalists haven't been great of recently.

I think the only teams who really show consistency are the teams who end up in the autos.
And I don't think that's a realistic expectation for us

Not getting any mins in 2 legs of the play offs shows his time is done here.

Cash in Wright, Simms and BTA and you’ve got a decent pot to rebuild that front line

I agree and even BTA coming in ahead of simms is an even bigger sign.

For the record as everyone seems to have their opinion. Mine is simms is a good footballer with all attributes but doesn’t have a natural footballing ability. For 3.5m this is what it gets you as a striker in the champ. Still what 24 25 I would personally keep him and work with him to make him better. But I accept his time here is done.

Although only if someone bids the money else we are stuck. Also a side point say we got 4m for him who comes in as I’m sorry but 4m in the champ doesn’t get you a massive upgrade on simms if at all. Leeds wouldn’t even have a 4m player on their bench so we have to be realistic with expectations

He’s a gobshite Barnsley fan. How is he going to have sources with Everton
I seen Everton linked with a few championship players, they can't spend a massive Chunk of their money on players from our league, I mean those 3 would take a huge amount of money to prise away from each club, they would be looking at higher level midfield options then Dan Neil, Jason Knight and Jack Rudoni.

Really surprised about your opinion on MVE. I think he’s excellent defensively and his recovery pace is a huge asset
His pace is a huge asset. It gets him out of a lot of trouble. Trouble that his positional sense gets him in. He often stands miles off players allowing them to cross. He’s a good player, especially going forward. But our number of clean sheets speaks for itself. Obviously that’s down to the whole unit - but he is part of that.

My Predictions for the summer window:

Leaves to another club:
Simms
Allen
Eccles
Lati
Bidwell
Collins
MvE - For 12-15m abroad or to a low prem team

Stays (from those usually mentioned on here):
Binks - more athletic than lati, younger, back up.
Sheaf - Injury ruined his season and chances of a big move, used tactically next year, signs a contract extension.
JDS - Rotation LB with someone new
Wright - Unless an MLS team signs him, he doesnt risk a potentially unsettling move in a world cup year.
