A club can only pay up a contract with the agreement of the player. Unless a player has another club lined up, there's not much incentive for them to accept it.Collins wage is probably the reason he isn't already gone. Doug doesn't seem to like paying up contracts so unless we get an offer we are stuck with him. I just hope that doesn't effect the ability to bring in a proper no 1 until Dovin is back
I don't see Collins as a problematic player , I think if a League 1 side came in for him he would join them terms permittingA club can only pay up a contract with the agreement of the player. Unless a player has another club lined up, there's not much incentive for them to accept it.
Someone has to want him, though.I don't see Collins as a problematic player , I think if a League 1 side came in for him he would join them terms permitting
He definitely has that hound dog look about himSomeone has to want him, though.
He strikes me as someone who no longer enjoys football but is stuck in this career for a few more years.
That's the issue tho. Nowhere else does he get the contract he is on here. He can sit out his final year Simon Moore styleI don't see Collins as a problematic player , I think if a League 1 side came in for him he would join them terms permitting
I'm sure he no longer enjoys it here, a move could change that.Someone has to want him, though.

we might as well find a taker and pay him off thenThat's the issue tho. Nowhere else does he get the contract he is on here. He can sit out his final year Simon Moore style

What about if its £6m in total with performance bonuses etc.Doubt it'd be £6m.
I don't know but I wouldn't think he's a big earner , his fee was fairly nominal
This is a crazy assumption to me - if he wanted to duck out of the game entirely then he could do it very easily, plenty of players do. Say what you will about his string of errors, I don’t think you ever could accuse Collins of hiding. He strikes me as someone who no longer enjoys football but is stuck in this career for a few more years.
I didn't accuse him of hiding. Based on what? Looking upset after he makes a mistake?I didn't accuse him of hiding. I just said he strikes me as someone who no longer enjoys playing football.
There have been footballers before who admitted after retiring that they got no enjoyment out of it but had no idea what else to do with their lives.

Joe Edwards is on the record as saying he’s a strong character who dealt well with coming back into the side and making mistakes. His general demeanor.
Hasn’t he got his 2 best mates with him in Thomas & Kitching?I'm sure he no longer enjoys it here, a move could change that.
Were never going to be like Brentford or Brighton unless we get an owner willing to put 100s of millions into the club.People often refer to the Brentford or Brighton model as being the bar to hit, but the one I'd prefer is Fulham. Nothing extravagant, not relying on eye watering fees outgoing or incoming, just sustainable incremental progress. Granted their owner is minted.
Who knows. Maybe just misinterpreted what Robins had said in the interview.
There’s zero evidence of that whatsoever.Someone has to want him, though.

I mean he’s not going to say he’s scared shitless is he?Joe Edwards is on the record as saying he’s a strong character who dealt well with coming back into the side and making mistakes.

The same will be said for the ‘keeper situation I’m sure.Striker is now a top priority. We cannot go into the season as we are.

Are you basing this off a 5-0 loss in preseason? How many goals are you hoping we score per game?Striker is now a top priority. We cannot go into the season as we are.
We lost 2-0 against a portugese second division team too.Are you basing this off a 5-0 loss in preseason? How many goals are you hoping we score per game?
I think some people get confused between business model and ownership. It still annoys me when people babble on about this.
Tony Bloom and Matthew Benham were boyhood fans of the respective clubs they now own.
The dynamic couldn't be more different and both have injected a massive amount of capital into their clubs without any real intention of a return, well certainly in the early days.
Benham was paying off club debt before he was even in an official capacity at the club. Brighton wouldn't have their stadium without Bloom.
It’s clear that the team is shipping goals for fun and has a choice of Coco vs Kiki the Clown as far as goalkeepers go. But maybe if we just kept investing in strikers then we’d have scored six goals yesterday and it’d be fine ¯\_(ツ)_/¯We lost 2-0 against a portugese second division team too.
Its clear that we need a striker
OK just so i can confirmIt’s clear that the team is shipping goals for fun and has a choice of Coco vs Kiki the Clown as far as goalkeepers go. But maybe if we just kept investing in strikers then we’d have scored six goals yesterday and it’d be fine ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Also, it’s pre-season etc etc
I’m saying if you’re going to draw any conclusions from two pre-season games where you conceded seven goals and scored none, it’s clear where the most pressing room for improvement lies.OK just so i can confirm
Pre season = Acceptable to judge the defence
Pre season =/ Acceptable to judge the attack

The fact we can't score goals?I’m saying if you’re going to draw any conclusions from two pre-season games where you conceded seven goals and scored none, it’s clear where the most pressing room for improvement lies.
