Ideally an experienced speed demon rockI would absolutely consider upgrading Kitching a priority. Think we could do with one of two profiles:
1) An experienced rock. Fadz but younger. Doesn't make mistakes and can organise the rest of defence.
2) A speed demon to help stop the counter attacks we naturally concede from with Lampard's high line.
Yeah but Bobby also got 5 goals which makes up for any difference in my eyes.Bobby Thomas:
Duel success: ~58%
Aerials: Wins about 62% — good but not enough to dominate big Championship strikers.
Liam Kitching:
Duel success: ~68%, big difference!
Aerials: Wins about 71%, much stronger in aerial battles, so crosses and long balls are dealt with more confidently.
If we’re digging out any defender specifically, you’d have to point the finger at MVE who player a part in both goals we conceded at home. Their second goal was unforgivable.
The first one certainly the other 2 not sure what he could have done .MVE, players make mistakes ,they are human like the rest of us. Remember how the Oxford player handed is a last min winner with that back pass in the last min at home. The goalkeeper ought to have done better with all three Sunderland goals.
Bit harsh, our defence improved massively when he was brought back into the team.I would absolutely consider upgrading Kitching a priority. Think we could do with one of two profiles:
1) An experienced rock. Fadz but younger. Doesn't make mistakes and can organise the rest of defence.
2) A speed demon to help stop the counter attacks we naturally concede from with Lampard's high line.
Seen where?Just read we're linked with a 23 year old Brazilian CB called David Sousa, played for 2 of Brazil's biggest clubs, spent 2 years onloan at Brugge.
At the time of his arrival with Cercle, the club's technical director at the time Carlos Aviña said of Sousa: "As a central defender, David is one of the greatest young Brazilian talents...David is positive-aggressive on the ball and dominant in aerial duels. He will certainly have a big impact in our team".
Oh so its bollocksIs on FLW so who knows
Yeah probably mate.... I'll start a threadOh so its bollocks
Isn't O'Rourke something to do with FLW?Oh so its bollocks
I won't believe it's bollocks until Alan Nixon says we're interested.Oh so its bollocks
Is he not football insider?Yeah, O’Rourke is responsible for FLW so have always respected it as a source
Bang average suggests you're clueless

Pete O’Rourke doesn’t work for FLW anymore. The David Sousa “exclusive” was written by a 25yo editorial assistant who’s never worked anywhere than FLW and the whole story is piggybacking off The Athletic who wrote about Swansea having a bid rejected for him. It's literally his job and career of over 20 years.

We need to certainly have more competition at CB.
Lati is far too slow to play in a high line and Binks isn't good enough defensively.
Forgot you can’t improve after the age of 26.I feel like people still talk of Kitching as a youngster. He turns 26 not long after the season starts.
McFadzean was playing for Crawley at 26I feel like people still talk of Kitching as a youngster. He turns 26 not long after the season starts.
McFadzean was playing for Crawley at 26
Brad Collins is still playing.van Dijk was playing for Southampton at 27.
It’s not necessarily busy more just competentThe fact we need a solid keeper is a sign the defence isn’t doing its job. A busy keeper isn’t a good thing.
Agree, Id say any decent team will have a good chance in a game brilliant defence or not. Our keeper was missing what should have been routine saves at some points and it made a huge difference. It’s not necessarily busy more just competent
Has Callum Doyle paid the bill yet?
No need they all did a runnner.Has Callum Doyle paid the bill yet?
