Hopefully sporting win the league . One game left. Back to back title success might ensure he goes for 80 rather than 60 perhaps. I dunno

Simms scored 20 in the champ last year. The guy you want Morris to replace!

Wasn’t there a subsequent negotiation 1 yr later where the terms of the deal were slightly revised ? We accepted a lower sell on % in return for a cash payment and we used this to buy out the Brighton clause ?

Ok. So he scored 19 goals. The clamour to sign someone with a similar record (Morris) is weird. New signings are always looked at with an unwarranted level of mystique. Until 20 minutes in when they’ve not scored !

No the buy out was detailed in the original document.

My issue with Simms isn’t his goal scoring. 10-15 from that role over a season is OK. This season has been poor. But my main issue is his inability to play the key roles of a lone striker in terms of holding it up and bringing others in.

That was in the summer

They could pay 1.5 million to reduce the sell on to 10% not 15

Thats how we paid for BTA

Which is exactly what someone like Morris would bring, and he could help with Simms’ development

Emil Riis Jakobsen, leaving Preston, 26 years old 6'3" Danish centre forward with a consistant record of 1 goal in 4 or better in the Championship.

Would be a perfect signing if we’re still in this league

Tomorrow morning shift out:

Collins
Wilson
Bidwell
Binks
Lati
Burroughs
Allen
Sheaf
Pato
That guy from Oz
BTA
Simms
Wright
Bassette

MVE will more than likely be off .

We need better to be serious to get out of this league. Recoup as much money as possible and bring quality in.

Completely agree. He’s not a good footballer who can have streaks of goals. I just don’t think Morris is much of an upgrade.

i think its better to think of what we actually need, rather than who are we getting rid of.

LB
Backup RB
Backup GK
backup saka winger
full efforts on some pacey goal hungry strikers.

saying that:
MVE i think will be tempted to go to sheffield if they want him
sheaf could go
collins will go surely

So if a player has to go to fund the summer, we’re all okay with Wright leaving?

I like Wright, but I think Mason-Clark is good on the left and we maybe need to freshen the strikers up.

Going to be an interesting summer. Think Frank will have his own ideas and if our signings are all similar quality to grimes we should be in good stead.

can see him wanting to sign a CM, ST and LB as a priority.

I have a sneaky suspicion Sakamoto is still gonna be the starting RW next year

I've got a few days off work so what better way to start it than with some transfer scouting...

Positions needed: GK, backup RB, starting CB, RW competition, starting ST. Ignoring LB for now because I'm just going to assume the Brau talk is real.

GK - In my opinion, a loan makes sense here. Dovin should be back by Christmas and I like him a lot so think it would be a waste of resources to bring in someone permanently when Wilson and Collins are still on the books.

Josh Keeley - 21 - Leyton Orient (On loan from Tottenham): Statistically the best keeper in L1 this season with +9.7 goals prevented and 14 clean sheets. Tottenham don't pay big wages to youngsters so he should be fairly cheap and he won't be in their plans for next season. Very good acting as a sweeper. Won Fans Young Player of the Year. Ireland U21's goalie.

Backup RB - Henry Heroki Mochizuki - 23 - Machida Zelvia: He's 6ft4 and absolutely rapid. Doesn't get beat in the air, loves to attack, and has incredible recovery pace. Called up to the Japan national team last year after just 20 games of professional football. Lack of pro experience because he went to University rather than staying in academy football. Only 42 career appearances so he's very green. But he'd probably only cost about £1m.

Starting CB - Chibuike Nwaiwu - 21 - Wolfsberger AC: Signed from Nigeria last summer as a midfielder, Nwaiwu has immediately become the best CB in the Austrian Bundesliga. 6ft4, good on the ball, excellent athlete. Has everything you'd want in a modern defender - except experience. I'd rather an experienced CB like Joe Worrall but we know City are constantly targeting younger players and resale value.

I wrote all the above before the game. Everything coming now is after Ballard's header...

RW - Sakamoto is class. Maybe someone for a Prem U21s team we can get on the cheap. Who cares.

ST - Honestly give me anyone. Haji, Simms and BTA are all shite.

For me this would be the window we need.

I don't really want Sheaf or Haji to go, but it may be needed to balance the squad.

Leaving:
Collins (Free)
Bidwell (nominal fee)
Binks (500k)
Lati (500k)
Burroughs (Free)
Sheaf (£5m)
Eccles (£3-4m)
Simms (£2-3m)
BTA (£3m)
Wright (£12m)
Paterson (Free)

That gives us along with some Gyokeres money around £30m to play with without Mr King having to put any money in.

We need 2 quality strikers with different qualities. One like a Morris or Moore with youth on their side, a focal point for us to aim for.
We also need one in the ilk of a mayenda or isiodor, with a bit of pace and trickery.

We would need 2 CM's in my opinion.
One as an understudy to Rudoni and another as a box to box all action midfielder.
Left back after his end to the season I wouldnt be opposed to JDS staying and being back up, but we need a dynamic powerful fullback

We need 2 CB. I personally quite like Thomas and Kitching together despite the odd mistake. One brick shit house with pace, and a young development centre back should suffice.

That would be a good start.

Yes agreed. Maybe one who can play either side.

RB is a good point.

GK is a difficult one. Do we go and sign one, or loan one till Dovin is back

Wouldn't be surprised if it comes out that Wright has been playing through an injury. I'd keep him unless we get a sizeable offer.

The squad needs a major overhaul in the summer, which is going to be difficult with so many on long contracts. We lack depth and quality in a number of positions, and it's quite clear Lampard doesn't trust/rate the squad.
