Just Saints have also tweeted saying that Saints would be open to selling Adam Armstrong this summer, I'm too not keen on taking back ex players, but at the Championship he is too good and definitely worth bringing in if available.

No thank you. Busted flush, not really what we need.

Scored 24 goals in Southampton’s promotion season. Could work if we decide to stop crossing so much and pumping so many long balls.

Since when were we a long ball team?

In general, our deliveries from wide areas need to be so much better. Quite often the ball is floated across and the defenders or keeper can deal with it quite easily. We need more variety, whipped in balls, hard and low crosses etc. Height isn't needed for those kinds of balls in, it's about the movement and timing of runs.
I know we make a lot of crosses but we also score a lot from them, including both goals in the play off semis and the most headed goals in Europe. I think the quality of the crossing is pretty good and it's backed up by stats, e.g. second most big chances created in the Championship.

Armstrong good player but wouldn’t suit our lone striker role at all

He used to play lone striker for us. He usually plays as a lone striker doesn’t he? Also played RW for Southampton in the prem so provides cover or a starting position instead of Sakamoto.

Plus our wingers play high like Wright so he’d have the support like he did with Jacob Murphy etc

Well Walker-Peters has played a lot of games in the Premier League, Milan hasn't. Perhaps they see it as a safer bet?. Although Tottenham are rumoured to be interested in Walker-Peters too. We will have to wait and see.

Out of contract as well. Bit of a no brainer really.

They don't. It's a French FA sanction not a UEFA one.

He played loan striker when we were a team that Sat back and relied on hitting teams on the break with speed
In case you havnt noticed, we dont play like that anymore, we are a possession based team now.

Horses for courses, as they say.

Not sure what happened there but my mate messaged me to say Lille apparently looking at Haji Wright. Jonathan David leaving and they’ll have money to bring a few attackers in.

Fair point but he did play in a Russell Martin system last time he was in the championship for a full season.

We play with wingers, so hes not going to be our no9 he could play off a no9 or as an attacking midfielder, but that would mean leaving Rudoni out. So that's unlikely to happen either.
And hes definitely not going to come here to be cover for Sakamoto.

In short, hes 100% not signing for us.

Not arguing on if he’ll sign for us as there’s no rumours on it at all (like everything else to be fair )

But I don’t see why he can’t play in our 4-2-3-1 especially based on this read up on Martins tactics in 22/23.

“Russel Martin likes to create central overloads when attacking the opposition. Therefore, the Southampton striker, Adam Armstrong, often drops during the build-up. When the striker drops, Southampton unlock more ways of beating the opponent’s defense. They can pass the ball to the striker, who can find an attacking midfielder in the pocket or play a one-touch pass out to the winger. If the center-back pushes up on the dropping striker, Southampton will exploit the space in behind the backline.”

Southampton – Russel Martin – Tactical Analysis - The Football Analyst

Russell Martin is currently steering Southampton toward a promising future, with a tactical blueprint that is both innovative and effective.

I'm sorry but I disagree. They would both suit a loan to someone who needs a striker if we can't sell them.

No more passengers. Ship them out.

We are talking about a nominal fee, likely far less than the cost of his wages if we then couldn't offload him. We wouldn't have triggered that extension unless we wanted him to stay and play.

Didier Drogba.... FL's formations are based on his experience as a player, Chelsea, mainly 4-3-3
