That's true but Allen has done more than enough to earn a free transfer if that's what he wanted. I'm pretty sure he's sticking around

we've probably extended it to get a nominal fee. I'd imagine theres a move lined up probablhy waiting to announce July 1st

A lot to be said for that. I still feel we need another midfielder even if we don't lose anybody, if you want real strength and depth.

Yeah. sheaf is one of the best midfielders in the league ability wise but is similar to Grimes who is even better.

If this summer we can work on a midfield set up that works with both of them in as those two and Rudoni are a top, top championship midfield.

Agree, don’t sell Sheaf, if he stays fit and pairs up well, why sell?

Thought this was the case initially but I think he’ll still be here when the season starts. No reason why the move couldn’t have happened already if there was someone lined up.

Would be a great signing, I wanted him a few years back when he was Utd Youth.

He is more of a midfielder by trade but has been great at RB the last couple of years so he would offer versatility and cover in both RB and the centre of the park.

He agreed a contract where the club could extend it by a year. They are protecting their asset. Why would they agree to a free transfer if he they could get a small fee?

Because they don't intend to sell. Every player has a price.. But if they wanted to move him on, why trigger a clause to run the risk of being stuck with him.

Silly question but have we had it confirmed Sheaf has an extension? I couldn’t see it in the original statement on his contract.

Personally I don't think a Grimes / Sheaf partnership works for both of them or Rudoni .
I thought our midfield looked at its best last season with more movement alongside Rudoni especially when Torp was fit and to a lesser extent when Eccles was pushed further forward .
I think if we do strengthen centrally it will be a more athletic and mobile player we bring in

What nonsense.. If we can get a fee for him we should … we are running a business not a charity.

They did the exact same with Shipley and sold him within a month of him extending the contract. We may well end up keeping him but if he leaves we get a fee which is still more than letting him go which you seem to be advocating.

Yeah Lampard mentioned it I think. The telegraph confirmed it after it (or reiterated Lampards comments)

said something like we’re in no rush to hand out a new contract because we have an option until 2027

Ethan Galbraith could be a good cover at right back and midfield. Huddersfield, Charlton and Swansea have had bids turned down already this summer.

Believe we had an interest in Galbraith about three summers ago when Chris Badlan was still around. I was told at the time some off field temptations were his main issue. Seems to have kicked on and done well the last season or two.

Under contract a player only moves if it suits them. My point is a lot of fans see Allen (wrongly) as a get rid of player.

I don't see him as FL wants to get rid. Yes and offer might come in that suits Allen and the club.

But that is a long long way from certain fans putting him in the bin and he is going.

It's bollocks. Shipley was a deal that suited him and us. It wasn't a plot to get rid of Shipley and make money

Something along the lines of “we have another year option on Aheaf so don’t have to worry just yet”

French FA have relegated Lyon for financial irregularities.
They certainly don't mess about.
Wonder if we can pick up any prospects from them.

I’ve questioned this a few times.

Turner says there’s an option, without any source that shows there’s as option.

It doesn’t mean it’s wrong. It just means he hasn’t proved it’s correct
