If we really want a starting number 9 its a question of who is going to be better off the bench. For me thats BTA everytime.
Makes a bigger impact and is definitely my preferred against tired legs or a team chasing the game as they’ll think twice about pushing too many up with BTA’s pace and ability to exploit gaps and space

Unpopular opinion, im happy to have both. Of course if a decent enough offer came in they could go.

I don’t think many number 9’s have done all that well in the championship recently. The top 4 didn’t really have a prolific one and the best was probably Sargent who is hardly Mitrovic. Could easily see Simms going somewhere and scoring
Yep true I could see that with Simms

My issue with both BTA and Simms is when they’re both on form they can be unplayable. When they’re not they are anonymous and dreadful. There’s no in between with either. I watched all of Simms goals from last season and quite a few headers in there. That shows he can be an effective target man. With the amount of crosses we put in he should be lethal in the box.
Seen BTA play for WBA and us. Never seen him be unplayable.
If we can move him on to support other signings I would not be against that.

BTA lovely guy, run all day, plays with his head down, scorer of good goals not a good goal scorer.

not my view but that of one of his team mates …. I’ll leave it at that …

I said on a podcast the other day that the "number 9" is going out of fashion. Certainly in the Prem. It disappeared along with the likes of Drogba and Lukaku. (Which is why I don't think vik would suit the prem) most strikers now are basically number 10s who can push forward. Even Man City who brought in Marmoush when they have a brilliant "9" Modern game is all about wingers it seems

Viks not a number 9 though is he. He loves to move into the wide channels a grift in. He's got plenty to his game

It's more that he needs to be the focal point of a team which no top 4 prem team really needs. He would be better suited to Italy in my opinion
