We need to see how Bassette is looking pre-season, but I'm not sure loaning him out is a good move on our part. There is no way he will go on loan to league 1 regardless.

Maybe the club wanted to see how the ST sales were until they finalized the budget. Or they are working on deals and are waiting for answers. Either way frustration is set in and names are being lobbed around.

Personally I don't think it matters what we think we know. The only time we will find the truth is when someone leaves or signs. Plenty of time and I'm sure Doug and Frank have all covered

Round up of current rumours (Will edit if any I miss)

In:
Tom Lawrence
Harry Toffolo
Migeul Angel Brau
Jamal Lewis

Out:
Norman Bassette

Christ I didn't realise how quiet it'd been so far
I think the Kesler-Hayden link was more legit than any of those other than Brau, which sounds all but done.

None of these have come from a traditionally 'reputable' source

We have had no reputable sources then. The only one you can rely on is when the club say we have signed or sold someone.

Professional sports journalists dream up daily fiction just to keep their click bait statistics up. 😂

I doubt it given they are capped at 24k, suggests that the club are expecting to sell at least 24k season tickets.

Just as Dave Nugent and Michael Ricketts were England internationals.

Not saying he can't make it but his cap was due to using up a spare spot in the squad and giving a youngster some experience
They most probably gave him the game and experience because they see him as their striker in years to come.

I'd like him to stay and fight for his place. Put him on against tired legs. He has a better idea what is ahead this season, and with a good pre season could well be up for it.

I actually like this, doing the deal in private then a foreign twitter feed says it's happened and then less than 24 hours later the player is swishing around the ricoh in those baggy jeans that are in fashion now.

How it should be done, I swear I didn't realise we'd got Matt Mills until I saw him named in the team.

Some rumours on Norman going off on loan to Belgium next season.

Norman Bassette, the Belgian striker of Coventry City, is in the sights of Standard Liège and Anderlecht.

Norman Bassette had started his adventure at Coventry City well, but his playing time has greatly decreased since the arrival of Frank Lampard as coach. After scoring two goals at the beginning of the season, he completely disappeared from the base eleven from January and played only about twenty minutes between February and April.
The 20-year-old Belgian feels good in Coventry and the club's management appreciates his commitment. But if the club recruits offensive reinforcements in the coming weeks, Bassette could consider temporarily going elsewhere to get more playing time.
This is where Belgian clubs could have a card to play. The Standard of Liège leaves with a slight advantage: in his youth, Bassette was a subscriber to Sclessin and still dreams of wearing the red and white jersey one day. According to La Dernière Heure, the Standard has recently inquired about his situation.
Anderlecht is also following him closely. Coach Besnik Hasi has already worked with him on loan to KV Malines. At that time, Bassette had scored five goals and shown his potential.
Bassette is currently on vacation, but he hopes to have a real chance to prove himself during the summer preparation with Coventry in July.”

Bassette needs to learn how to play in the English leagues.

Doug doesn't want it leaked and have deals hijacked and you've just leaked it. 🤭

Not Cov related but I know a few people were keen on the potential of a free on Jimmy Dunne... he's just signed a new contract for QPR... I thought that had Sheff Utd all over tbf.
Me too but since Wilder is going, they’ll probably turn to a first division Bulgarian instead

Just noticed Heerenveen once again have a really highly rated Right back.

Oliver Braude
Age: (21)
Citizenship: Norway
Height: 1,74 m
Position: Right-Back

If we move MvE on we can just go raid them again for his replacement!

.

But to call a Belgian international, way off, is simply wrong

To call someone who was elevated from the u21 squad as they had an important qualifier that clashes with the full international game, and then played as a last minute substitute in a defeat vs Isreal - and who never touched the ball, and has not been near a full or u21 squad since, a Belgian international is also quite a stretch.

Bassette needs to learn the offside rule

It’s possible he knows it but - somewhat like the apparent advice about applying yourself fully in training* - he might think it doesn’t apply to him.

* I have no evidence for this assertion. Just thought I’d join the game.
