long way home

Could be anyone and as names don't tend to come out the club its looks like its going to be a frustrating watch. Still think we are going to see a few moved out on Loan or perm deals before we see incomings.

But its just wait and see as im sure things are going on in the background

Dan Neil isn't all that interested in the move to us (not sure if there is even any contact), he wants to stay up north, I think if he can't find anything closer to the end of the window, he may change his mind, but nothing is imminent with Neil to us.

Really not excited by him at all. I’d hope we wouldn’t pay for someone like him.

Can’t imagine he’d be loads if he’s out of contract end of season. I don’t really know enough about Neil to comment but I’d trust Lampards assessment of central midfielders and how they might fit in our set up. I’d personally go for someone who can sit but is comfortable on the ball though incase Grimes gets injured. If Neil fits the bill so be it.

We should have enough attacking/dynamic talent in the squad, ideally just need Rudi to get back to form (and hopefully torp fit) to nit it together, but even without we’ve got skill/power/pace

What about Jamie Roche?

Rumours Birmingham after him and hes been left out of his squad. Fits being European and seems in our budget. More of a ball winner based on stats then a box to box mind but could offer us more a bite in midfield?

I dont understand why we need cover for Grimes, who never gets injured and not Torp who is literally injured right now and is for about half the season on average.

Not saying I don’t agree but think the issue is that so much of our play goes through Grimes, that the concern is if he got injured then the system would need a major tweak with the players we’ve got

We can turn up in various guises every week until one gets the hunger back!

Perhaps we need someone who is flexible enough to cover both.

Im going to be the one to say it as I know the opinion isn't a sexy one. Presuming he's motivated Harry Winks is a better option than just about all the other suggestions on here.

Because we all know what might happen when someone ‘never gets injured’ !

Also Grimes is a very good passer so with someone else who can sit he could maybe do some more progressive stuff.

A lot of our attacking play comes from Torp and he’s already injured. Get both sure but surely the actual problem is more urgent than the theoretical one.

Looks fine, but do people really he will come in and make more of an impact the second half of the season than Hamer would

Ross Barkley.........
I prefer players who are not crocked.;)

On 30 November 2025, Barkley suffered a knee injury 13 minutes after coming onto the pitch from the bench in a 1–0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers. The injury was expected to keep him sidelined for around 2 months.
