That touch on his chest for the first goal from the keeper was better play than I've seen from any of our forwards since Vik
Both goals were impressive. Surely we need to risk it? Fair chance we’ll know if we need another striker within a couple of weeks if we sign him now.

Wilson is heart over head thinking. Injury record is just too risky imo.
It depends how cheap he is. If he just wants to play and be part of our promotion and isn't going to hold us to ransom then it's worth a gamble on a short term deal I reckon - but equally the chances of him being cheap enough to warrant the risk are pretty minimal.

We’d probably manage his minutes v carefully.

Idk, I seem to remember the whole league thinking Deeney signing was a massive coup for Birmingham and he was dire.

If there’s a position we could manage his workload, it’s upfront. We’ve got Haji, Simms and BTA already so it’s like Wilson needs to be play 90m 2-3 times a week.

If we sign Wilson, my assumption (probably incorrect) is that we’ll sell Haji.
He would no doubt be clobbered first tackle by big donkey clogger

We have 100% had a couple of conversations with him the last few days, and he has been reciprocal

It may well mean fuck all, but it seems to me its a classic case of heart vs head for him. As i said above, coming back and firing us to the premier league after he left us ground sharing and on the bones of our arse after growing up in our academy, attending President Kennedy school, being a cov fan, is very tempting for him.

But he also needs to look at whats best financially for him and his now limited future
Probably just the nostalgia and attachment, but I'd 100% take him.. a front three of EMC, Wilson and Esse you'd imagine would tear up the championship and get us back to how we were at the start of the season when we were banging them in for fun.

Maybe some enticements in the contract like big bonus and wage increase if we go up?

Esse was deffo number 1 target i know that for certain, Korean bloke i wasnt told anything

Dont wanna get everyone pulling their pudding here btw but Callum Wilson IS possible. Wages are the issue even with his contract being cancelled so it probably wont happen. However his West Ham contract was heavily incentivised with appearances and goals. His actual basic is a lot lower than people would imagine, but still almost double our highest earner, however..........

Evidently he is very tempted to come back and be the Cov Kid that leads his boyhood club back to the Premier League Roy of the Rovers style (even though hes not keen on certain people and influences he had in the city previously). He has a lot of respect for Lampard for obvious reasons and would happily work under him. If there is something that can maybe be done which says his wage quadruples on promotion then you never know......
keep going I'm almost there

If we don't lose a couple of players (and it's not clear that any are leaving) he's taking up a squad place for a position where we've got three players already on nearly 30 goals this season.

Can’t see this one now we have signed 2 attacking players already, everyone will be in for him so can imagine he will surely choose a side where he’s going to be starting every week.

Think he’d be fantastic as well but think Doug would be trying to do a permanent rather than a loan.

I think he’d be a good signing as a long term option, but a big ask for him to come to a league above and do a job immediately for a promotion chasing team.

£25k a week isnt even a million is it.

Give him a million quid bonus all i care if we get promoted
fag packet maths says 25k * 5 months * 4 weeks = £500k, plus the 500 bonus, £1m all in.

Maybe we should be trying to leverage bonuses/clauses like that for our January business - even if we comitted to £10m in payments on promotion it would be loose change once in the prem. Sunderland did it to an extent with Le Fee.

If we started negotiations in September, strategically the club was operating on the assumption we’ll be in the playoffs and perhaps fighting for automatic promotion.

Now we’re top by 5 points after the NY, the club needs ‘win now’ players to get us to the Prem. He’s in preseason mode fitness wise and that adaptation period is a consideration. So unless we’re confident he’d make the step up to the Prem, it’s probably for the best that we pass on him.

YMK is primed and has a loan spell at Pompey under his belt, Esse was a leading Championship winger last season so these two signings make more sense.

I’m interested to see who we’re looking at for LWB and CM.
Totally agree mate.

He would be a perm signing in the no.10 space.

Being an ex President Kennedy boy myself, my heart would love to see the fairy tale of returning to the Prem with Wilson. But truth be told there are concerns on both sides, for us and him. I guess it comes down to how much he backs himself to make a real impact. I would imagine being part of the Prem return with your boy hood club is something no amount of Saudi Riyals can buy….

Wilson possibly could do it in the US and as their season is not on at this time he could do 5 months with us and then join a US team. Of course it would be appealing for him and possibly for us to have him in the squad and in the dressroom similar to JP last season.

I agreed with you as of this morning.

He’s not been out with any injuries this season to be fair but has only averaged 45m per game (same as YMK).

A goal every 200 minutes in the Prem is surely too good to turn down for us if this was actually a viable move for us.

If people wanted us to sign Bamford I don't understand why they wouldn't want Wilson, who is and has been a much better player. I've no idea if it is feasible to sign him, but if we didn't it would be really galling if he went to another Championship club until the end of the season and tore it up.

Ipswich looking for a striker according to McKenna.

I feel like i read somewhere that Manneh is better in the 10. Could have just been some random Swede on Twitter though.
He plays as a double 10 at his current club who did win their league, and he is obviously viewed as their best player considering the fees quoted are apparently way more than is usually paid for players from that league.

He's a backup to EMC, i think he's alright from what i've seen tbf, certainly to play that role. Esse i think will be starter more often than not.
One of those players considered to have a very high ceiling, with loads more to come from him. It has been reported that Spurs do not want to sell him, which supports that opinion.
