It’s in part due to how we play and our ambition. You can’t have a free scoring side that attacks in numbers but also are compact and hard to breakdown.

Take Boro away … 5 mins from time it’s 2-2 and looks like a good point …. But our ambition is to win

Thomas shoots, Kitchin scores …. Both centre halves in the Boro box with only a few mins to go

1 min later … most teams are sitting in and trying to see the match out …. Kitch takes the ball half way in the Boro half, beats his man, gets fouled, doesn’t go down and kill time but plays on and plays to our full back who is bombing forward.

JDS crosses and we have 5 men in the box ! Simms scores ….

We are 7 points clear …. You might want to adopt different tactics, show more caution, but I think it’s fantastic to watch and the results speak for themselves….
The only time it comes back to bite us is when you play a team that can't easily break a low block like Ipswich and have players with pace to burn in their starting line up and on the bench. If we had scored first, think it would have been a different game. They rarely lose when they score first.

Annoying thing about their second (other than the player still being on the pitch) is that it wasn't exactly a long ball over the top that caught us out. Our CB's had time to get goal side of him to prevent that run through on goal, but didn't. And what makes it especially annoying is they'd had the warning shortly before when he got through in almost identical circumstances but Rushworth saved.
Good players beat the offside trap, especially against tiring backs who are chasing a game and have had no opportunity to rest since the last international break.
Most Championship forwards get caught out quite often with our high line.

I think when you have four of your five top scorers out of your starting 11 and play a full back as a winger from the start, then the squad is too thin. Also, we have been unable to rest players. Simms looked tired yesterday and we needed mobility against Kipre.
Three players, Kitch, Torp and JDS missed getting a suspension at Ipswich which again shows how close we came to losing crucial players for matches.
Our two defeats have arguably come from not having enough players in the squad.
We had one player filling in out of position out wide and I think everyone agrees we will strengthen there next month. Otherwise I don’t really see this supposed weakness, all the players we had deputising for injured starters were all very capable and experienced options?

Very few squads are set up to accommodate four of your top five scorers all going down at once, I think ours has done a decent job of dealing with it. Where Lampard has had the option of resting players he hasn’t taken it.

Who's the one that didn't escape the ref, can't?

Because there is a drop off in quality if we rested players. When you play loads of games in a short time on heavy grounds, players need a break. Ipswich were watering a sodden pitch because they knew they had quality on the bench that we did not.
Teams make subs to rest players. Bidders for JDS, Wolfie or Lati with no pre season for a CB. Allen and KKH look great as subs. Not so much when they start.

Aren't there some reports out there describing it as being a record transfer for us? That would be surprising considering the league we are bringing him in from but gives an idea it might be way north of 5m

The reports I have read are that he is likely to go for around £5 million, which will be a record for Mjallby.

Other reports are still circulating that we are no longer the favourites to sign him. This could of course be a ruse by Mjallby or the player to get more money.

Almost certainly the club at this point

Plays LW, direct and wants to take his man on all the time.
What makes me shake my head tho is you see comments from people saying:

"Come to PSV bro 🔥💯🙌"

Like he's going to say to his agent:

"Yeah I'm going PSV instead of Chelsea because User1375_990 wants me"

Stats are great but the Slovakian League is ranked just above Ireland and Iceland. But apparently big European teams like him so what do I know.

Might be a shock but I dont think we need any defenders in January (unless we sell/loan out Bidwell and Brau) because we are well stocked at the back and that can be addressed in the summer, its the lack of firepower and creativity when we get 1 or 2 injuries to any of our midfielders/forwards. I stand by a CM and 2 wingers would be enough whether on loan or permanent

Is it either or? Skybluegod seems to think Manneh is basically done and Jimmy seems certain will be signing a championship winger

According to reports Coventry City have dropped down the pecking order for Manneh. No club named but there's far more Championship clubs that could offer a better deal and if it's concrete Premier League we have no chance. The reality is we're punching well above our weight in terms of budget and squad size.

Old article. Since then we have had somebody who knows Manneh's side who's said a Medical is booked.

Fair enough but this has been rumoured for too long and baring in mind their season finished a while ago. The link I shared is the latest article I can find along with similar articles. Time will tell but I don't think this will happen.

I think you will be proven correct.

The most recent rumours are that (a) Bournemouth are the new favourites and (b) Stoke have bid about €1.5 million more than us.

Still going to stand by this but if we’re going to see this season out with autos we need 4-5 more players.

That is a lot of players to integrate without a preseason. New signings can be disruptive and I don’t mean they have a bad attitude. It can take them some time to settle and get going. The squad harmony has been a key factor in why we are where we are.

I think it will be one In, two maximum.

He’s also got an agent who has form for fucking about near transfer completions.

I know nothing of his agent but the messing about that caused his transfer to Olympiakos in August to fall through was - according to reports - the action of Olympiakos, who tried to drive the fee down at the last moment before the window closed.

How unlike a Greek side. I used to know a solicitor who was involved with footballers contracts. He always advised players not to join Greek sides as the contract will mean nothing to them.

MLS has just finished hasn't it. There must be plenty of potential loans/perms over there in January for players who want to keep the World Cup squad hopes alive.
