Its funny because people got and have got carried away. Planning prem signings for next season. Now we've had one loss. A loss that actually could have gone the other way if Eccles shot goes in, or the ref has some bollocks.

I watched yesterday thinking, despite this scoreline we are such a good team. We had them camped pretty much all game. But got caught on the break which needs to be addressed.

We have to earn promotion. We have not got it yet, there's a bloody long way to go. We dont need 5-6 new players in jan but 1-2 would go a long way

It’s in part due to how we play and our ambition. You can’t have a free scoring side that attacks in numbers but also are compact and hard to breakdown.

Take Boro away … 5 mins from time it’s 2-2 and looks like a good point …. But our ambition is to win

Thomas shoots, Kitchin scores …. Both centre halves in the Boro box with only a few mins to go

1 min later … most teams are sitting in and trying to see the match out …. Kitch takes the ball half way in the Boro half, beats his man, gets fouled, doesn’t go down and kill time but plays on and plays to our full back who is bombing forward.

JDS crosses and we have 5 men in the box ! Simms scores ….

We are 7 points clear …. You might want to adopt different tactics, show more caution, but I think it’s fantastic to watch and the results speak for themselves….
Don't disagree with that and for us attack does look like the best form of defence. It's exactly what Derby fans told us about Lampard's management style and yes it's good to watch. And let's hope it's enough to take us up.

People are getting carried away, it's partly media driven. That said no need to panic after one poor result but not a poor performance. There is still a long, long way to go. January recruitment will be key, I'm sure Lampard & Co already have their targets.

This place completely loses its head after a defeat. We are nine points clear of third with almost half the season gone, that’s because our squad is already very good. The idea that we can forget about promotion unless the squad grows by >20% is delusional.

It’s about getting the job done. We are not going to be able to sustain the great form we had with the squad size we have. We’ve been lucky until now but injuries is already showing our lack of options. There’s no head loss in an issue that even Frank has mentioned.

We remain defensively quite vulnerable and I'm not sure KKH, Brau and Woolfy have brought much to the defensive party. Lati and Bidwell don't bring much either.
Doug will probably be keen to sort some of these out before bringing yet another defender in. It's a mess and Lampard hasn't done great there tbh
As to Kitch and Thomas they are still unconvincing defensively. But I guess they're it until the summer when we'll need some bold decisions and some quality ie. Big money to sort it out.

Well it's not really delusional, 20% might be a bit much but without additions I'd say on balance we are more likely to drop into the play offs than sustain the pace of the top 2.

Kkk is a great player. He's unlucky mve has, for the most part, been on fire. He also gives us another option.

Brau I'll be honest I dont know what's going on. Ive not seen the wolf play yet.

My mind keeps going back to two years ago when Leicester were about 22 points clear un Feb and by end of April on the verge of being overtaken. They dragged themselves over the line. We have to remember that. It's not going to be a canter. There will be a time we have to fight and dig deep.

Not sure Manneh would be the right kind of signing for us in Jan.

People will be expecting and wanting him to hit the ground running and he’s a young lad, moving to a new country, playing in a better league. Personally think it will take a bit of time for him to be a decent option for us, even off the bench.

But I trust the recruitment team if they can see plenty of potential in him.

I think he looks like he would be a great option off the bench. EMC can’t be doing 90 minutes every game.

This lad looks very strong and very quick.

In what sense have we been “lucky until now” with injuries this season?

The guy most consider to be our best player has been injured for most of the season and we've also picked up other key injuries here and there along the way. Like you, I'm struggling to see the luck.

I don’t know much about the Swedish league, but don’t think it’s held in particularly high regard?

He certainly looks a prospect but just don’t think we can expect instant impact. Obviously I would love to see the latter happen and he clearly has something about him.

We are a cavalier team, we got caught for the second goal because we had every player in the opposition half. It isn't anything to do with the individuals really it's just the style we play. It's risk v reward and it's generally worked exceptionally well so far this season.

Just as against Wrexham we missed 3/5 of our backline, we did the same with our frontline yesterday (counting Torp as a member of the front) any team is gonna struggle missing a big portion of their team. Especially with a lack of squad depth, we definitely need a winger or two, and a CM, I think that’d be enough to get us over the line then address the rest in the summer

Annoying thing about their second (other than the player still being on the pitch) is that it wasn't exactly a long ball over the top that caught us out. Our CB's had time to get goal side of him to prevent that run through on goal, but didn't. And what makes it especially annoying is they'd had the warning shortly before when he got through in almost identical circumstances but Rushworth saved.

Not saying Boro is a good example but they needed to bounce back and have done.

I’ve no idea if Manneh is any good, but on paper he’s the kind of signing we should be making this window. Young enough that they’re not expecting to come in right away and play every week, but able to come on and make a difference, and with the ceiling of a future PL player/Championship star.

If he can cover the wings/AM positions then I’d be happy if that’s all the business we did, perhaps one veteran striker on a short term deal just for extra cover up front.

Well no, I can’t imagine someone who’s spent most of their playing and managerial career at Chelsea does feel that comfortable with this size of squad. Welcome to Coventry!
we have the real opportunity in January to stake a claim for automatic promotion. why would you run the risk of leaving the squad too thin

You’d be happy with 1 signing? We need at least 2/3, let’s just stand still though whilst all our rivals strengthen because ‘sbt’ thinks it’s best

I’ve already said I want us to sign at least one player?

There’s no ‘opportunity’ about it, we have already staked the league’s best claim for automatic promotion, and that’s because our squad is very good as it is.

Any team that is aside from Ipswich who can rotate their front four with little drop in quality.

Cant be underestimated how much energy was lacking out of the team yesterday with Saka, Torp and BTA missing. They all do alot of tracking back, winning the ball back with niggly tackles, I’d like to see us sign someone with that similar kind of ability that also has the attacking qualities of those 3.

Obviously we play gung ho this season and that has a big impact. But we know by now there's a lot of errors and flaws in the back four. It's not just about us being caught on the counter.
JDS and MVE aren't the greatest defenders, they get turned, lose their man and don't block crosses quite a lot. Kitch and Thomas are pretty slow and prone to errors.
So it's about individuals as well.

Yet somehow we've kept the joint most clean sheets in the league.

I think when you have four of your five top scorers out of your starting 11 and play a full back as a winger from the start, then the squad is too thin. Also, we have been unable to rest players. Simms looked tired yesterday and we needed mobility against Kipre.
Three players, Kitch, Torp and JDS missed getting a suspension at Ipswich which again shows how close we came to losing crucial players for matches.
Our two defeats have arguably come from not having enough players in the squad.

The only time it comes back to bite us is when you play a team that can't easily break a low block like Ipswich and have players with pace to burn in their starting line up and on the bench. If we had scored first, think it would have been a different game. They rarely lose when they score first.
