He’s acutely aware that our biggest threat is an injury crisis, not the quality of other teams. Probably wants all the bases covered in January but the glaring ones are out wide, in central midfield and perhaps left back too.

Really need to keep Wright fit when he’s back though, Simms is in great form but he can’t keep going for 90 minutes all throughout this month.

Simms durability is impressive to be fair, rarely misses a game due to injuries. He’s not as explosive as Wright, EMC or BTA so he’s lower risk for non-contact muscular injuries.

His form has come at a great time and he’s got a golden opportunity to make himself undroppable now. He’s not yet first choice but that could quickly change if he keeps up the scoring run this month.

As long as Lampard is given the resources needed, who we bring in or what terms they arrive on, I’m happy.

We cashed in £6.5m for Sheaf, was bidding £10+ million for Hughes supposedly so there ought to be a good pot available for the window.

I was thinking king would sell up but I’d like to see if he can pull off a few more master strokes

Why would he sell up on the verge of a massive pay day

Well yes preferably. Could do a loan with a buy clause if promoted like Sunderland did with Le Fee

I don’t think we do one of these unless they’re a nailed on starter. Don’t think anyone of that calibre would join if they were just slated to be a backup either.

Who says they’d be a back up?

No-one we sign will be a back-up. They'll either be players good enough to challenge or development players.

The initial posts were about “insurance against an injury” and “someone who can come on”.

I see it as closer to a rotation option than a benchwarmer tbf.

Fine, but I don’t think a player of Le Fee’s calibre is joining in January to be a rotation option either.

This is the thing for me. The squad is absolutely flying, injuries be damned, so I’d be loath to spend money on changing things up - even if Le Fee walked through the door, I’m not rushing to drop any of our current midfield just to make room. And the squad will be going through a hard reset in the summer, so I’d be loath to add more expendable pieces in January. If the squad was flailing or likely to be in the Championship next season I’d say we should go nuts in January, but we’re not.

He definately needs to play games. Would be a sensational loan. But unless he pulls his socks up and inserts decent shin pads, then it's a no from me.

"With that in mind, ex-Everton scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes that Dibling could be in line for a loan move in the January window, and potentially even a return to his boyhood club.

“I see a loan coming on here,” King said.

“I would say somewhere in the top half of the Championship. Maybe he could even go back to Southampton. He’s a young player, and it would be a learning curve. They’ve got to sort games out for him somewhere, and he doesn’t seem likely to get them at Everton.

“I think it was very questionable when they brought him in. He’s a young boy, and if you’re going to pay that kind of money for a player of that age, then you’ve got to be looking for him to go straight into the team."

Thing is though, would the potential loan stipulate a starting birth if fit.

I would absolutely take him, he would be a sensational signing on loan.

Him and a midfielder on a permanent would be a fantastic window.

Everton paid £42 million quid for him , seems a bit of a waste to send him on loan. It's not as though Everton have loads of flair players . Grealish has had his 10 mins of the national media trying to get him in the England squad.

Is it more of a waste to send him on loan or continue to not give him minutes?

He’s played 73 mins of first team football so far.

Maybe Everton think he would benefit by playing a lot more than that albeit at a level down.

To be fair, he needs minutes on the pitch.

If Everton don’t think he’s ready for the prem, he’d be much better playing in the championship than sitting in the U21s

It's a crazy sum for a team like Everton to pay for a youth player. Man City, Arsenal sure. But it's not like Everton don't need first team players.

Iliman Ndiaye is off to the AFCON, so I`d say it`s highly unlikely that he`ll be let go, as at the moment he`s his understudy.

Dwight McNeil is more likely to either be let go as a sale ( think his contracts up or go out as loan.

Plus Frank knows McNeil and as much as he`s not a pacy winger, he can play on both the left and right, is very good with a dead ball and can defend too.

Even stranger, when you think Everton didn`t have a functioning right back when they signed him - still don`t, they`re probably going to play James Garner there tonight, who`s a midfielder.

Part of his durability is the fact he got dropped regularly in favour of Wright last season and BTA this season.
We are going to see how durable he is over the next 6 weeks I suspect.
