Recruitment had been fine overall, but we don’t have that older experienced, tough guy. That is why we’re so weak.
A McFadzean type player. It’s strange why we haven’t as it’s probably the cheapest part of the puzzle

An experienced player like… Grimes?

If rumours are to be believed, we’ll be signing another experienced pro in Onyeka this window.

Is Grimes even 30 yet? He only seems experienced because the rest of the team is so young.

I mean a real older head. Someone who is almost a bridge between the team and management

Yes the players have have to take some responsibility for the current drop off in form but Lampard isn't exempt from criticism. Setting a team up in the manner of last night and indeed other games was inviting trouble. Where's the plan B for away days such as this ? He needs to embrace some pragmatism away from home. A midfield enforcer has to be a top priority in tandem with a tactical change .

Austin has built a squad that’s consistently competed at the right end of the table and is now top of the league. Yes he was dealt a good hand with the Vik and Gus money, but it’s a hand he played well. There are plenty of teams who’ve spent more money in this division who have much less to show for it.

Most of the championship have clocked on how to beat us now, i think we got lucky at the start of the season, we were in early form and everyone else wasn't, now everyone has got going its showing how not so good we are, we cant keep playing this way with players that cant keep the ball consistently, if we keep giving the ball away stupid amounts this is what will happen the rest of the season, Lampard has to change something. Hard to beat first, good attacking next.

Why would anything change if Sheaf was here the side would be the same as he would be sitting on the sidelines rubbing his poorlys.

It's ridiculous we're top of the league and 8 points clear of second. Every team in the championship has patches of bad form

Leicester nearly threw away a 17 point lead a few seasons ago

We have a playoff level squad that has massively out performed it's ok everyone chill out have a wank or a smoke.

Regardless of his qualities, he needed a change. He'd gone stale and he should have been sold the season before when his stock was so high. No criticism for anyone for that, as hindsight's a wonderful thing.

There’s a lot of coping this morning, fact is this is the biggest season for the club in living memory and all we’ve got in so far this window is two loans, one being a fringe player. Doesn’t exactly scream ambition.

Looking forward to inevitably crashing out in a play off semi to Wrexham in May.

I think if we can move Brau out on loan an maybe Andrews as well I’d try and get Cirkin in on loan and I know the saying he’s not leaving but O’Nien as he knows how to put a foot in and do the dirty work.

Working with a Boro fan this morning saying how Hellberg has completely changed their style of play. He said Carrick was dogmatic with his way of playing and wouldn't change regardless of circumstances why they were always being caught out. Sounds familiar?

He's 31 this year and been a captain at this level for several years, has more experience than just about any Championship player. Having a real 'older head' is just a bad cliche because it doesn't magically correct miss big chances or make basic defensive errors.

That was the difference last night, we missed 3 big chances, Norwich had 2 big chances that they scored. If EMC or Haji Wright score between the 50-56th minute to go 2-1 up, we probably win the game.

Simms should start upfront for away games imo, he's scored 6 of his 9 goals when we've been away and Haji hasn't scored away from home since Sheff W. He's missed too many big chances v PNE, Southampton and to some extent, his chance last night.

Hellberg has only just got them up to 2 points and they went on a 4 game winless streak around Xmas, he's behind Lampard's record for us so not really buying into his hype just yet.

Hull and Ipswich, in comparison, have been better than Boro since he arrived.

We really need to push the boat out and make some really statement top quality signings now.

I don’t want to hear those who are happy to accept what we’ve got and be anti signings. We’ve got a real chance to make the Premier League. The trajectory we are on now, that could soon be slipping.

Literally still at 2 points a game. Honestly, half of this forum become like toddler having a temper tantrum when we lose a game. We're 3 points above Boro and 8 ahead of Ipswich, talk of impending bottling is premature and frankly,

After QPR, we have Oxford and Boro and even if we lose on Saturday, we'll still be stop and winning both home games keeps us top by 3 points minimum.

I don’t think people are having a tantrum. If we were still playing well everyone would be relatively content despite the loss, but we haven’t exactly been setting the world alight with our football since November.
