Don't be so thirsty! But since you're so keen:can you nitpick please, interested to know your thoughts
Everyone who's commented about chocolate is now on ignore, take that bollock's elsewhere.
We aren’t in the PL though. Dropping 6 million for example on a player that is going to help seal promotion is a drop in the ocean compared to the riches we will have if we get promotedBecause his wages and transfer fee would be a non-trivial amount and I would rather that every available £ (and squad position) go towards a player we are more confident can perform to the required standard in the PL.
1) If we sign a player now its because it wouldnt impact a future windowDon't be so thirsty! But since you're so keen:
1. We quite clearly need to strategise for future windows, we're not Ridsdale-era Leeds
2. Sunderland offloading him is a strong indicator that he's not up to scratch in the PL. Personally I also aspire to be better than West Ham (who are currently 18th)
3. "Who is it to say it will eat into the budget next season" - the bank manager, probably?
Well its pretty pointless paying a fee (probably a good few million) and giving probably a 3 or 4 year deal for a player that will be redundant in 4 months time if and when we get promoted! He'll be great to help us get out of this league, but to buy him on a 4 month deal wont be an option. And if he isnt good enough for Sunderland in the PL now, then he wont have improved in 6 months of sitting on the bench to be good enough for us.So you only want to sign premier league level players before we actually get there?
I get the argument, but it's also a surefire route to creating the kind of Championship super-team that we've seen time and time again have no chance of surviving after promotion. We aren’t in the PL though. 2) You do realise Sunderland are in 10th?
3) The bank manager will not manage the budget

...because they improved on Dan Neil, yes!2) You do realise Sunderland are in 10th?
Im pretty sure Leo Castledine was an in demand player.... boro managed to get that over the line pretty sharpish with no fucking about.Because they're players in demand from elsewhere as well as here.

Was Yang in demand? We got 2 in demand players over the line even more quickly … what’s your point ?
Was Yang in demand?

Who was after them?Yes they both were.
When was he last in their squad? I doubt he has been in it for months with AFCON and loansOnyeka not in Brentford squad today
He was on it on 14th December before he went to AFCONWhen was he last in their squad? I doubt he has been in it for months with AFCON and loans
And if other clubs had shown serious interest it would have taken more time.Im pretty sure Leo Castledine was an in demand player.... boro managed to get that over the line pretty sharpish with no fucking about.

Won't they think of the future transfer budget!?I doubt Bournemouth are looking back in dispair at spending a couple of million on Kenwyne Jones and his 43 minute contribution to a promotion push

I doubt many clubs backed by US billionaire owners despair at a couple of million regardless of who it was for. Guy makes more than that in interest a day! Probably found £2m down the back of the sofa and said to Eddie Howe "why dont you use this sofa change i found and buy that Jones fella you were after"?I doubt Bournemouth are looking back in dispair at spending a couple of million on Kenwyne Jones and his 43 minute contribution to a promotion push

He’s worried about building a championship super team for the premier league when in reality we only need one or two quality additions to get us out of the league we are in. Should we win promotion most of the squad will need rebuilding anyway@SBT whole argument is arse about face really - the only concern would be if the money failed to get the club promoted. Frankly if it cost £10 million and it achieved the goal it’s chicken feed

SBT hasNo one is arguing it isn’t … try to keep up.
Some have tried to argue incorrectly that spending today doesn’t impact tomorrow , but no one has suggested we shouldn’t invest this window
What?So you I assume were against Grimes signing?
The budget for the premier league is a different beast entirely. Spending now will not impact at allNo one is arguing it isn’t … try to keep up.
