Well its pretty pointless paying a fee (probably a good few million) and giving probably a 3 or 4 year deal for a player that will be redundant in 4 months time if and when we get promoted! He'll be great to help us get out of this league, but to buy him on a 4 month deal wont be an option. And if he isnt good enough for Sunderland in the PL now, then he wont have improved in 6 months of sitting on the bench to be good enough for us.So you only want to sign premier league level players before we actually get there?
I get the argument, but it's also a surefire route to creating the kind of Championship super-team that we've seen time and time again have no chance of surviving after promotion.We aren’t in the PL though. Dropping 6 million for example on a player that is going to help seal promotion is a drop in the ocean compared to the riches we will have if we get promoted
