Sorry for my ignorance as I may have missed something over the year but teams don't ever have a player/manager like in the old days, do they have too much responsibility now? I think we had Terry Butcher but only played a few games, but it was quite common. The reason I say this is Bannon seem the type that could actually do something at Sheff Wed, as player/manager. He knows the club inside out and if he had an old head for an assistant, someone like Steve Evans, I think next season he could bring them back up.

If we get promoted Doug has a massive decision to make about every aspect of the club. Does he invest in the foundation or invest on the pitch including coaches. Can he do both ? Or does he sell take the investment and run for the hills knowing he will of achieved his goal and finished what he started.

Everything in my opinion comes from Dougs decision and the 1st meeting between FL and Doug will be instrumental on the path the club walk. With or without FL, those 2 will be adored and in my opinion deserve that and therefore deserve the right to do what they want.

King is more likely to think about selling the club.

Fair point, but he is being asked to play 3 games per week. Not subbed and he is 29.

Lampard's reputation is at an all-time high – he is going to ride the crest of this wave until the end of the season. He is getting a lot of adulation for what he is doing at Coventry. Why leave that and go to Palace, where things could go wrong very quickly? I think Rob Edwards has given championship managers a masterclass in what not to do.

Why do you think Palace have a vacancy, they don't back the manager, they sell players, sound familiar.

He's had 2 weeks without a game, not 2 weeks off. Given our poor run of form before the break the training will have been intense. Besides which, there's a difference between long term exhaustion and match fatigue. Some games he's going to find hard and we need an option we can bring off the bench for 20-30 mins and to step into that starting berth if required.

Doubtful we’d get the investors with the clout necessary to be be a minority owner. It’s more likely going to be an American investment fund as is the majority of the premier league and they’d more than likely want the whole lot

What he's done here points to wanting to sell the club and ground as a package for a very nice sum. At which point we're then very much into the unknown.

He'd probably try and get £100m for us and pocket a nice 100% return on investment

That’s what I’ve been convinced on as soon as we bought the ground. The CBS makes no money - doesn’t make sense to buy it until the very last moment. I reckon he sells at the end of the season regardless. Difference is he may be able to tack on another 100m if we go up

Doug deserves a statue for what he’s done for us even in a short time

And if you take out Wilson, Bidwell and possibly Allen? Which is more what I was getting at, the players that will actually play.

You can't really compare with Ipswich, their squad has depth and was assembled at huge cost. Also took them a long time to get going this season.

We are still not a young side if you take the loans out. Most of our first choice team is 25 or over.

As a fat bloke I was hoping whoever takes over will turn the exhibition hall into the biggest all you can eat in Britain. Ideally the Pizza Hut one but I am open minded.

DK is not daft. He will keep to the plan. If he gets an offer he can't refuse, he will sell.
If we get promoted, expect us to possibly go for a Cat 1 Academy. Spend wisely with sensible contracts if we are relegated, so we are not screwed if we are relegated after one season.
Expect to buy hungry players with hopefully a large increased resale value.
Only worry is, our buys (not loans) this year have for once not been great. KKH may come good, but appears to have a recurring ankle problem. Woolfie and Brau have been underwhelming so far.

25 is still pretty young and really experienced is it, dunno why it's a controversial opinion to think we could do with an older leader type in the mix.

Most players are considered to be at their peak from 25 until their legs go.
The point you made was we are a young team. We were a few years go but they have grown together as they have got older.
The younger players we have bought have struggled to break through, apart from Rudi (24) and Bobby (24). Dovin did it and is young for a goalie.
Simms and MVE were youngish when we first bought them and have improved.
