Been mentioned by others before, Bannan for a short term injection of experience to get us over the line? Could do a lot worse for a lot more

Where does this obsession w Bannan come from? Anyone would think he was either a former players or went to school in Cov.

Why? He's not the profile of player we need. He's never been promoted from this division.

Because for 30 minutes as a replacement for Grimes at little cost he would be perfect

Why would you willingly replace one of the league’s best midfielders with Barry Bannan for a third of the game?

Well he's looked good in a dogshite Wednesday team for a few years now, has a wealth of experience and an eye for a pass. 400k is more than I'd want to pay but I do feel like we could do with a few more leaders in the squad

What is it about “six points clear at the top of the Championship” that makes you feel we lack leadership?

Because Grimes isn't a robot, he looked knackered over Christmas. We definitely need cover for him. I'm sure there are better options than Bannan but they will come at a cost and probably won't have Champ experience

For a player who has played every league game he's looked leggy recently. Bannan is not such a bizarre suggestion. Do you really think that he won't need a rest at some point ? If you don't you're in cloud cuckoo land

It's a long season, I look at our squad and think what we lack and it's experienced Wily pros that can come in when we wobble. We have a young squad and players like Wilson and Bidwell aren't getting games. Having an option on the bench that could come on and be a calming influence would be great.

I reckon we could do worse than Bannan as cover for Grimes.

If the 500k for Obikwu is true then that would probably cover 6months of Bannan.

Dream transfer to get us over the line would be Milner but he's still getting game time in the Prem at 40

It’s all relative but he hasn’t won them a single game has he?

Looking good in the worst team in this division when they’re expecting to lose every game and he gets a free pass from their fans as he didn’t leave in the summer - and he’s regularly upset Sheffield United fans - isn’t enough to make me think that he’s close to the type of player we need to get us to the Prem.

100% in my opinion. Be a great insurance policy and even just to lighten the load on Grimes for the last 20 mins of some games. I want to wake up and see a foreign journalist saying we are close to bringing in a European powerhouse midfielder for £6m but I honestly think a tried and tested solution like Bannan for 19 games would be perfect.

Why would he move somewhere to be a sub when he's currently a guaranteed starter?

Because here he has a chance of winning something here?!

It's not going to happen but I think he's a good fit

Promotion/winners medal as opposed to relegation?

For me I think the big issue is that as a permanent transfer he'd want a multi year contract, when we only really have use for him for six months. One of many reasons I doubt it'd happen.

For me, it'd be someone I'd be looking at as a loan on deadline day if nothing else has materialised either for us or him. But think he'll have moved before that.

Because he's at a club guaranteed to go down . 6 months with us gives him a much better shop window for the final seasons of his career

Shop window? He's got a yellow sticker on and is getting chucked at closing time

Bannon is pretty loyal to Wednesday and isn't going to want to play only when Grimes needs a rest.

Agree, and why on earth would he leave the contract he is on now, for a 6 month deal with us? And why on earth would we pay him more than he earns now to try to entice that, when we only want him incase Grimes “looks leggy” again?
and why on earth would a 36 year old be a good option to replace someone that “looks leggy”

We are top of the fucking league, we’re not signing a 36 year old from the team at rock bottom of the league to “get us over the line” for fuck saaakkkkeeeeee
