Ironically, Bamford’s goals per 90 at 0.92 is only marginally better than Simms’ 0.91.10 games and five goals. Makes sense for them to tie him down.
BTA is back next weekend, Simms has scored 7 goals in his last 7 starts. On Haji, he’s had the chances to score so despite my criticisms of him, his barren run won’t last forever. One has been injured for 8 weeks, 1 the manager doesnt really like playing for whatever reason, and the other hasn't scored in 14.
Getting a quality option to see us over the line is not that ridiculous
I haven't mentioned Bamford tbh.Ironically, Bamford’s goals per 90 at 0.92 is only marginally better than Simms’ 0.91.

Is Bamford worth breaking a wage structure for? No. Fair play to him, but if Sheff U wants to pay him silly money, let them crack on.
4 strikers vying for one starting berth is not good, we had it last season where the manager chopped and changed constantly whenever a striker went on a drought. The end result that no one could really hit form.
If im being honest, i no longer see BTA as a striker. Last season scored 4 in 38 appearances as a striker. This season scored 10 in 17 from LW/RW/10. I think Lampard, out of necessity, has stumbled upon BTA's best position. And i dont think its up front as a lone striker. Why is everyone obsessed with getting another striker? We have 3 with Asante fit and currently they have 27 goals between them.
No, but I’m struggling to see how we fit in a 4th striker. If someone goes, it changes the situation drastically.I haven't mentioned Bamford tbh.
When he played as a "10" he was basically a 2nd strikerIf im being honest, i no longer see BTA as a striker. Last season scored 4 in 38 appearances as a striker. Spot onWhen he played as a "10" he was basically a 2nd striker
Yeah, we basically played 4-4-2 in those games and we had a number of people whinging as it did leave us very light in the midfield.Spot on
Didn't work that badly though. Saw our best form of the season.Yeah, we basically played 4-4-2 in those games and we had a number of people whinging as it did leave us very light in the midfield.
Possibly but the goals have dried up sinceYeah, we basically played 4-4-2 in those games and we had a number of people whinging as it did leave us very light in the midfield.
oh yeah but he was deffo up front along side wright/simmsPossibly but the goals have dried up since
Reminds me a lot of Conor Chaplin. Up front he was a bit pants but when he was dropped back a little and was more of a 2nd striker / shadow striker he started banging goals in.When he played as a "10" he was basically a 2nd striker

What was working really well with BTA in the side is the direct attitude he had when he picked up the ball, out of possession he was like a rat up a drain pipe closing the opposition down which led to us turning the ball over, Rudoni doesn't do that he just drifts out wide all of the time!!! Playing the lone Striker suited BTA and Cov City as it was pretty much playing with 2 strikers on the pitch, BTA's natural instinct to be in the right time at the right place (the striker in him) and sadly this can not be taught!!! I can't wait for him to be back!!
We all know what will happen...
he’s a lot better than jamie allen who has played 25% of league minutes this seasonIs Dan Neil that good? Remember Sunderland fans moaning about him regularly, not sure he’d be a ‘marque signing’.
Is replacing our 5th choice midfielder going to make the difference though?he’s a lot better than jamie allen who has played 25% of league minutes this season

That geezer is absolutely crackersApparently this will be our marquee signing this window. Premiership get ready!
Looks like it's a well supported club.Apparently this will be our marquee signing this window. Premiership get ready!
What do you mean he’s not an out and out striker? He’s been playing as a striker since he joined WBA. It’s only because we have had 2 wingers since Lampard joined.BTA isn't an out and out striker though. When he's fit and in the team he's usually playing with Simms or Wright. It has seemed to me that most promoted sides in recent seasons have had a depth of options up front. One more body gives us more leeway to ride the vagaries of form and injury. The upside of getting promotion is so great that getting another body in up front if we could bring a Wilson type player in seems like a no brainer to me. If its true that FL wanted to bring in Bamford then its likely that he would like another forward in the squad too.

Now you have 4 wingers, we’re probably going to see less and less of BTA out wide. Personally, I’d play 4-4-2 more when we’re in need of a goal.
People need to drop the notion that BTA was playing as a 10, we were playing 4-4-2.

How would you describe his role? Playing as a 10 doesn’t really explain anything. He was playing as a 10 that's why we are saying it.
I remember the days when it was so much simpler , defender, full back, midfielder, wide player ,striker now it's no 6,8,10, lol there again I am an old git.How would you describe his role? Playing as a 10 doesn’t really explain anything.
After all, Rudoni plays ‘as a 10’ but the two play said role very differently. Our defensive shape is a 4-4-2 and in attack, it’s fluid. It’s also pretty normal for a 4-4-2 to have 1 striker who plays more advanced and the other deeper.
BTA’s underlying data tells all and it’s consistent with a striker than an attacking midfielder. The heat map would probably show the same.
It does slightly irritate me when non-coaches use ‘4’, ‘6’, ‘8’ or ‘10’ to describe those central positions. There are several roles that fits in those descriptions. I imagine the coaches have laid out exactly what they mean by these terms to the players on the training ground.I remember the days when it was so much simpler , defender, full back, midfielder, wide player ,striker now it's no 6,8,10, lol there again I am an old git.
