I did . I also realise it was a joke analogy. I just continued it to make a point. Personally I think it's a bit early to make judgements about any of our new players. Particularly given the circumstances of preseason etc. Any one (or all) of them may turn out to be no good. But perhaps I misinterpreted the point your were making.

So a lwb rumoured and Reid out in loan?

Other than that we seem set

Perhaps Reid could go back to Ross County to get some football. Would be good if he and Burroughs could get regular playing time in the same team.
I'm surprised Robins doesn't think we need another CM tbh.

Not really we need another CM, and I’d want another RWB as back up over Da Costa

I think da Costa will be fine

Wouldn't mind a CM. Sell Shipley before misses anymore sitters

Just looking at the squad as a whole.

I dont think we're far off now.

I would class 6 players as needing to be shifted.

Pask
Drysdale
Allen
Shipley
Jobello
Hillsner

If we can get in another CM and Defender, either LWB depending on Reid or another CB, i really think we have a solid mid table squad.

Would take some fortune to be able to shimmy them 6 out but we got rid of Kastaneer. Eventually

I can't see why we need to get rid of Pask. He seems good enough as cover.

Not good enough tbh, i think we should try offloading him in january once we can conclude we have or don’t have enough depth

I quite like Pask, I haven't seen him really let us down when he played last year. He won't be first choice but ATM we have 4 players good enough to fill the 3 defensive positions, unless we do sign another defensive player we will be lucky to get through the season like that.

Because we want to bring in someone who can challenge for a starting place, and clearly that’s not Pask. So he needs to go to free up some money for wages.

It may be that the lad himself has asked for a chance to go somewhere he'll get games

I agree with that but I dont see Allen, Pask and even Shipley as bomb squad because they can do a job off the bench or the odd 90 minutes. You do need those type of squad players. In an ideal world yes replace - but as yet nobody is showing interest.

If a club made an offer tomorrow I am sure we would release them. But if they are here after transfer window I won't be too disapointed because they can contribute. Maybe even Mason if fit could get back into contention for the bench as cover?

Jobello and Hillsner are different matters.

I was wondering if this might be the case when this rumour first immerged. Seem to recall it was along the lines of "he's been told he can go", which could mean that he has asked to, rather than being pushed out. I think most of us were quite happy with him as a back up, particularly as he can also cover rwb. He was looking pretty decent in the back 3 up until the neck/head injury last year. It was really unfortunate timing as that might just have been his moment. I would totally understand that at his age, he wants to be playing first team football. If he doesn't do that, he's liable to be a player that slips into obscurity.

Well that's what I thought is most likely but if there is no interest at the moment he might as well stay until there is, and at least keep himself in the frame. People are talking as though he should be dumped out the door ASAP as he isn't good enough even for cover, I understand it would free up funds but if it were to work out that he doesn't find another club in this window and he provides cover for us until January or the rest of the season I don't think that is too bad an option. A much better option than for the likes of Jobello and Hillsner, positions where we have better cover.

Mason doesn’t have a squad number - Robins has said there’s no way back for them players and they need to find new clubs

Obviously MR would like as many players out of the door that don't currently figure in his plans as possible, but i still think if Pask is still here when the window closes it isn't a disaster.

I know but he was the nearest to getting a move. It's a long shot and a long way back. But whoever is here after deadline day we have to work with them and get the best out of them. Even if it is bolstering out under 23's. Because how else would another club be interested by January?

You realise you’ve mentioned 6 players there!
That’s 25% Of the squad that probably won’t play 10 games between them.
We can’t afford to carry 6 players, That’s the problem that MR has, he can’t bring in the players that he wasn’t while carrying so much dead wood.
Of course getting other clubs to take them off our hands is going to be a big problem, which is why it’s going to take a couple more years for us to sort the squad out and be competitive.

You really are telling me what I already know. But hopefully a few others will take note on not what needs replacing but how difficult it is to move players on while still under contract.

Well our proposed loan signing Balogun is starting for Arsenal tonight. Mustn’t have wanted to play second fiddle to Gyokeres

Robins said one more signing to come which is presumed to be LWB. He said Jan window will hopefully give an opportunity to do a bit more business.

I think if there are options and offers either Pask, Allen and/or Shipley could leave but we also need cover so I’m expecting all three will stay until the Christmas window especially with Eccles out until then and Shipley being left sided.
Robins saying one more in by the end of the month, he must have a target and I suspect it’s a left back/wing back.

Maybe not then. What about Ryan Giles, will Wolves let him out again?
