Last I heard, he was at the Stoke training ground but the deal was still being discussed. Haven't seen anything confirming its happened yet. But I have been away from the Internet for the last 24 hours.....

Exactly, he's only on loan there. They can still recall him to sell him on to us It's worth keeping this going a bit longer......

One thing I don’t get, unless I’ve misunderstood...he signed up for another year at Brighton, who I guess triggered option....but then left on season loan ?! What’s in it for Brighton ? Why not just let him go permanently now ? At worst they get a tribunal fee due to age. Have I missed something ?

Perhaps, like a number of people on here, they think that he will improve after another year of Championship football and will then be worth a lot more

Said a new 1 year contract, which was presumably just his extension.

Didn’t Brighton do the same with Ben White?

Personally I would have preferred Shankland to Gyokeres, would have been a lot cheaper too from reading reports of Beerschot’s opening bid was £300k but they did an undisclosed fee that one day could get to a mill but doubt it

He's a Scottish version of Tyler Walker, and probably not as good.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. If I understood it correctly hes signed a one year deal so after a year on loan could just walk away next summer (and Brighton would just get tribunal fee due to his age) ?

He's bigger but slower and not as good a finisher.

Be comical to try and see him play up top on his own in this league

REALLY????
theres a reason no English team picked Shankland up, ..... he's actually a piss poor player, who scored a fair few goals in a pub league 2 years ago!
He was being watched by a lot of scouts at one time, but they all fucked off and no English club wanted him.
Gyokres on the other hand, is a young lad who has full international caps and showed tremendous improvement last season, once his fitness improved. He works incredibly hard for the team and I'm sure he will be a fans favourite before too long.

Would Ostigard qualify for a tribunal fee if his contract ran out thought that was for players who came through the youth system, I think he would just be a free agent.

He did, Leeds tried all sorts to get him back but Brighton refused to deal and twelve months later got 50 million quid for him.

Nope it is just players under the age of 24. Length of time at the club is one of the factors for deciding how much a fee would be, which is why coming through the youth system is often talked about as it increases the figure you are likely going to get for developing the player.

But there are a significant number of criteria that come into consideration for tribunal fees. Brighton also have to offer a better contract than he is already on to be eligible.

@better days do you know if / think it’s likely we might bring 1 or 2 loans in before the end of the transfer window mate?

Reading Mark Robins interview after last nights game he seems to be frustrated about the delay and difficulty we are having trying to recruit I get the feeling we will be struggling to get anyone in I know football finances throughout are tight but it was ceo Dave Boddy a few weeks ago who said players have been identified will be coming in. If that has changed then he needs to come out and say so and why.
