That gives a lot of room for TM, if he stays, to rebuild. Lets hope its the last time we have to completely overhaul the squad.

The thing is with Nouble, Tudgay and Jackson, they're not actually bad pedigree and especially Tudgay and Jackson, they have decent pedigree for this level.

Could a full pre-season with TM and an overhaul of the midfield dept result in more effective performances from them? I'm not saying I'd expect any of them to be number 1 up top next season, but they'd be useful to have as squad players next season.

Agree with that Otis, think Swanson is just out on loan isn't he? Johnson should be offered a deal that's based around appearances, lower basic and bigger appearance bonus.

Reda- I would let go. Use the money to go elsewhere. It's not just the money for him but also the money for the player that needs to cover when he decides not to play.

Would rather have money spent in strengthening midfield.

I will be v pissed off if we start the season with all 3 of Tudgay, Nouble and Jackson in the squad. Probably 3 of the highest earners, have consistently failed to deliver this season. The fact the our joint highest goalscorers in the league have a mere 6 goals tells me all I need to know about our strikers.

Our midfield needs an overhaul. Fleck, Barton, Thomas and ward all failed to score this season, only JOB of our orthodox midfield players has scored this season.

As I said on another thread, if we have any ambitions next season we need players who consistently play well for 4 out of 5 games, not 1 good game every 8.

We've got to stop signing players on what they've done in the past, has to be what they can do in the future.

Yep. I would say Nouble doesn't have the pedigree. Pointless being able to turn a tap on every 6 games or so. Utterly pointless. Jackson to me, looks shot and even Tudgay doesn't have a very good goals per game ratio over his career. He'd be the only I'd consider keeping from those 3 there.

I would get rid of Fleck, Barton AND Thomas if it was down to me. Fleck especially should be getting his name on the scoresheet.

I'd actually keep Thomas of the three, as at least he does some disruptive work. The other pair are creative players who don't do much creating recently! Could see Fleck in particular going on and doing well elsewhere but, tbh, if so, so be it. We can't keep somebody just in the hope it's next season he comes good.

Their wages were probably at the top end of the scale though.................would they represent value ? I'd say no, so get hungry players in who don't think they are bigger than the club, even at this level.

I'm not saying Nouble, Tudgay or Jackson should be in our starting 11 next season and I'm not saying they should be on the same wages as this season.

My point being that TM has worked with them for two months, that's all. I totally agree that the midfield needs an overhaul. If TM can get a decent midfield who can provide decent service and work with the three players mentioned (and they accept a pay cut), they would be good to have as squad players.

I totally agree that we shouldn't sign players on past legacies but by the same token, we can't write them off totally after one season which was managed by an inept manager with a shit midfield.

I would keep

Burge as back up
Reda
Martin
Phillips
Haynes
Willis
Fleck
Thomas
Job
Maddison
Nouble

And add to that with mowbray signings and loans.

Think would make for a strong squad.

Reading what we will have left, I'm glad we can say adios to most of them.

Hopefully we sign TM on a 2 year contract, and he can get his scouting network in full swing and rebuild this debacle of a club :)

I would probably give Tudgay and Johnson another year. The rest I would probably shed.
The contracted players Inwould keep although I would off load Swanson if I could.

Can I ask why? I was an advocate of his earlier in the season, when I saw what he was capable of, but unfortunately he seems to have about one good game in 6-10 matches and he doesn't score anywhere near enough.

Can't see any logical reason to keep him.

cos he is capable of outclassing every other play on the pitch at times. when he works hard it usualy leads to good things like today. he didnt knoe results were going our way, but he assisted maddisons goal. a few players with genuine skill can eleveate a team in this league. we have maddision but hes so young, a bit of class elsewhere on pitch could pay dividends.

im not saying he should be a starter, but to have him in our squad can be a good thing imo

it all depends on if TM thinks he can get him playing more consisntly or not.

This is what I would do:
Keep:
burge
Reece
willis
martin
Haynes
phillips
johnson- pay as you play deal
fleck
JOB
Swanson - give him until January and if he still can't play then get rid
Maddison
tudgay

definatly get rid of Webster, nouble, Barton and Jackson
try and get Pennington, Samuel and ward back on season long loans, undecided about stokes

I am not sure that you are right on Nouble, he has a good 10 or 15 minutes every 4 our 5 games but in that time he is so good we all think he had a good game.

I would be happy if somebody came in for Fleck and Martin of the ones that are out of contract pretty much all of them can go.

I think people are being way too lenient on players too keep. Sure some of them have shown flashes but they are the reason we are where we are. Swanson can't get a game up north either. He has to go, Martin isn't bad but inconsistent, Nouble would have to take a huge paycut if I would even consider it.
It may seem harsh as they have shown flashes, but if we are going to progress sometimes you need to be ruthless. These players are good on the counter, but under TM, he wants to dominate games and so that needs a new type of player.
