This season is just a replay of our first out of he Premier league. After a flying start under Roland Nilssen we managed to top the league after beating Sheffield Weds and then despite a couple of dramatic wins (away to Crewe and Walsall) the season slowly but surely fell apart.

In the end a playing squad that included 5 players that went to the World Cup in the summer, two Moroccan internationals and David Thompson in the form of his life didn't trouble the scorers and we finished also rans in a mediocre league and ended up with Horatio Carbonari and Paul Trollope mystifyingly in the starting XI

This season our squad should have been good enough for automatic promotion but - even though we've signed Ramage and Stephen Hunt (the Carbonari and Trollope of 2016) failing to reach the play offs from where we were has been almost criminal.

Biggest difference I can see is hat this season there is no Jim Smith to blame it all on.
