So, we've had 2 games. Thoughts so far?

Not knee jerk but we're going to struggle. Same issues as last year, however now lacking any creativity. Yes we beat southend but only just, and they were poor. They got smashed 3 1 at home to 10 man Blackpool.

I know it's a marathon not a sprint but i am genuinely concerned. Todays fucked me right off

Robins I’d imagine will step up the search for a play making midfielder over the next week or so. Perhaps today may work out for the better as if we had won four nil today it may of masked the requirement.

I also don’t think 4 3 3 suits the side opening up sides one bit.

We certainly need another striker, and a creative player.
Hopefully we will sort that out with loans, and Jones will be a welcome addition when eventually fit.
Unfortunately there’s 3 or 4 that we need to offload to free up funds.

Off to Malta on Tuesday (and will be glued to the internet until I get back for the Gillingham game) Allen will help lift us when he is fit. Not worried yet, but I expect if we go on the Peterborough forum, the Sunderland forum, thee N Rovers forum et etc they will all be 'we're doomed' etc. We were robbed by the officials today, and we will get there. Main criticism today is bringing Max on and playing him out wide. Let's be honest, as poor as the result was, Bolton never looked close to beating us.

It's a difficult one. Personally after that, I can see us struggling, more because of Robins' stubbornness than anything else. Why are we playing a lone striker against kids? Why didn't we start with Godden? Why did Max come on and spend the 1st 20mins hugging the touchline?
Today was one of those days, but, that said, we need to be clinical. Bakas goal (2nd one disallowed) was never offside, but Hiwula should of put it away himself instead of fluffing his shot to Baka in the 1st place. Looks like were going to make hard work of another season by lack of goals. Yes, we had the ball in the net 3 times today, but the 1st was hands down off side and Biamou is out of shot but the lino was quick so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. We scored 1 (legal) goal today v an U23s team. Needs to be better or were doomed for mid table mediocre!

Missing a creative player Kastaneer & Allen might help

Players in final third just not technically good enough. Hiwula needs a better first touch and Baka needs to use his physical ability. Without bright or Baylis where are the defence splitting balls going to come from? Worried that we will struggle to get more than one goal in a game. I would like to see Robins send out a side that is more expansive.

2 games, 2 clean sheets. Robbed by the ref today. We haven't been able to break down teams that sit deep for 3 seasons now and that's on Robins as much as the team itself - I fear his limit as a coach is upper mid table league 1 unless he works out how to influence games that are getting away from us, so we are always going to have games like today.

Think Jobello will be a great signing.

Zain didn’t have a great game and his final decision making was poor. To be fair none of our midfield could drive forward. Hopefully that changes when Allen comes back.

Baka was awful. Really not 20 goals is he? Got to be shipped out.

Hiwula is having a slow start.

Max needs more time off the bench to get him up to speed.

Godden you could see he was getting into the positions. Only joined the other day so will slowly click with the rest of the team.

Defence looks ok but not really tested.

When Kasteneer comes back think there will be more attacking balance with Wesley.

I don’t think we have a natural playmaker though and that’s worrying.

As the most levelheaded of us likely thought were mid table to 6th over 46 games.

No need to panic, new system being utilised, players bedding in and still summer signings to come in.

Expectations on here are sometimes higher than reality.

Wonder what the Peterborough and Sunderland forums are like tonight with there level of investments and points return so far.

Some issues still to be ironed out, but we’ve three players to bed in were yet to get the true benefit from in Allen, Kasraneer and Godden with a few weeks training.

Southend will be a poor side this year but Blackpool will be a play off contender. They are a good squad. Form will settle and game plans develop

Nope. But the same patterns are repeating themselves season after season now. He's doing some great stuff with CCFC but we can also point out the flaws without wanting him sacked

Not massively concerned, but we do look a bit toothless up front. Got to give Godden time to settle, as well as Jobello, plus there's Allen and Kastaneer to come in so hopefully it'll improve.

Still the question mark over MR's refusal to change tack during games but he's a good manager for us overall.

I swear we try 433 at the start of last few seasons it doesn’t work and have to change. Remember mcnulty being stuck out wide at the start

Allen might help it when fit as he has the legs to get forward and support Baka but with Shipley Kelly and Westwood it’s a no from me

I seem to remember MR started with a 4-2-3-1 then changed? Last season he eventually changed it back with Bright and it worked.

For me and had this conversation for the best part of a year but 4-3-3 doesn’t get the best out of the players we have. I fear godden will end up frustrated as a lone striker with no service. We have struggled for goals for 12 months now and it’s deja vu all over again.

Robins isnt above criticism despite him being a good manager at this level. The system doesn’t work in my opinion.

Get a big player up front with godden and get those wide men whipping crosses in and get some service in there and create havoc.

Last season we lost at home to scunthorpe then drew away at Wimbledon and then narrowly beat plymouth at home. Last week for 65 minutes I thought we were very good albeit missing that killer instinct, sounds similar today in regards to being ruthless.

I think Allen is a big miss as I think he will add considerable quality in a midfield 3 or I think he could play as a 10 and be close to Godden.

We had the ball in the net three times, close offside decisions but proves we can actually create chances. Their keeper was MOTM by all accounts. We also have some to come back from injury, so lets see how they fit in before we hit the groan button.

In fairness my expectation is that we should at least beat a children's team and score a goal against them.

Not the result we should expect against a very young team. I guess they could do thorough homework on us, but not so us on them which could have had an impact.

However, I swear by it - wait until we have 10 league games out of the way before daring to say how good or bad any team is especially if significant squad changes have taken place.

Today’s opposition felt like a shit version of a Checkatrade U21 side - we battered them all day today but didn’t get the rub of the green in front of goal or from the officials!
Bolton’s fans went mad at the full-time whistle like they had just won the FA Cup or something!

Have you not been disappointed in the past when the City have had similar levels of expectancy going into a game.

This is Coventry City, we don’t do text book wins

Don’t panic Mr Mannering - MR has got this sussed!
When we shortly get back to full strength we will see a massive improvement - err hang on - aren’t we unbeaten so far? Have we conceded a single goal yet?
Time to chill out people - we are on the right road and as Mark Robins said yesterday “it’s written in the stars”.
Relax - come the end of the season we will be in the top 6.
