I guess we will soon find out if Manneh is the “done deal” that some have been claiming for weeks because, if it was, the paperwork could be signed at any time from yesterday onwards. Personally I don’t think it will happen but we will see.

Yeah I’m also not convinced whether this is the profile of player we need right now. But yeah, I’ll be judging after the fact - not before!

I think its the kind of signing we should keep making personally, think our recruitment has been good overall. I'd agree we need more on top of that though, more of a 'sure thing' kind of signing to get us through.

I was thinking more like maybe, mid Oct to end of Oct, if we get really lucky.

That’s as may be but there is no denying that our form has dipped badly. As posted elsewhere, we are 16th in the form table after the last seven rounds of football with just nine points and five goals from those matches.

If that form continues until the end of the season then we won’t finish in one of the automatic places. It’s as simple as that.

Obviously we all hope that the bout of illness affecting the squad will soon pass, BTA will be back, Rudoni and others will rediscover their form and the squad will be strengthened. I most certainly haven’t given up hope - we are still in a good position - but the recent wobble does concern me.

Our form has dropped off because it was always going to. A slow start because of the draws, but you're never going to keep up with winning nearly every game for a quarter of a season. We were supposed to be finished as soon as we couldn't put out our first team yet I can't remember the last time we played our 1st 11.

So we've played what everyone agreed was a hard run of games for 2 months and had everything thrown at our squad and we've opened up a nice gap. Always thought Middlesbrough would struggle with just 2 decent goalscorers. That's now 4 games on the bounce without a goal. Now that's a wobble.

Unless 2 sides come out of the pack with sustained runs the gap should be big enough. They need to average around 0.5 points more than us per game. They also have to keep playing each other. And soon silly season starts where the relegation threatened sides start getting unexpected results. Other than Ipswich it would be a deluded supporter that expected their side to go past us.

Watford worry me..theyre absolutely flying, and they are a good side. Aside from Ipswich they are the best side we've played this season, 2nd half against us with only 10 men they were superb

Watford are only doing what Southsmpton were doing and Hull were doing, I doubt they'll sustain it.

It's a generic Championship winning run and every time people get fooled into thinking it will be maintained. It rarely happens.

Their next 3 games are both Hull and Bristol City away then Millwall at home. 4th v 5th, 8th then 7th. That's a lot of dropped points in the chasing group without getting unexpected results and there's going to be a few of them.

As league leaders, we don’t need to worry about anyone if we keep doing our job.

The underlying data has said most of the season that Watford should be up to where they are now. Unfortunately for Watford, they’re not v good away from home.

It’s the same with Ipswich, unless they completely turn their away form around, we have nothing to worry about unless we collapse.

Another 23 points needed for the playoffs. At the moment, I'm not even confident of that.

like who? Ipswich? Who else is bang in form? We were never going to win every game - it's a wobble. Would you rather be where we are or where Boro are? We need to change the mentality.

Really surprises me how people think no other team can go on a good streak of form. We have tough matches and haven’t won away for ages. We can easily slip into the play offs. In fact I would think it quite likely.

Yes in reality we are still in good position according to the super computers and nerds.

93% likely to get promoted apparently.

Presumably that 93% chance is based on our previous results and the assumption that we’d maintain that level of performance which we clearly aren’t doing and don’t look like returning to.

yep, me too. But reminds me a little bit of the League 1 winning season when I think everyone was expecting it to go wrong. We're where we are on merit. I think the only game we've been well beaten is Ipswich at home - Ipswich away, Preston away, Soton away and today at Brum we've been well in the game and arguably should have won 2 out of the 4. So we need to regroup and go again

I don't think it is actually because even when we were winning games it had our expected points only early 90's when if it just tracked points earnt we would be on for over 100.
