Na, we'll lose that. They've got shit all to play for now, they will have a full house and be bang up for derailing their local rivals

Its weird we are top , last couple games fans from other clubs saying how poor we look.

Still hard to picture promotion , if we blow it even from this point then frankly its appalling

Lampard has done an exceptional job to get us into this position with our squad. He needs to be backed at this point.

He does , but at one point we were 13 points clear of 3rd .. if we finish in the playoffs that would be pretty poor

We really made a blunder by not being a bit more ambitious in the summer window. We went into this season without a full 25 experienced squad for a promotion push.

Wait to see how January goes, if he's backed no real excuse to not see it home

If not backed then it's hard to blame Lampard if we finish in play offs

I’m pretty sure it would be one of the worst collapses in the history of this league if we don’t go up from here statistically. Anything but autos is a complete failure now.

Look at the premier league . All talk been about how many city the monsters have awoken again and arsenal are scraping wins and the gap is closing and arsenal will choke etc

And then bang arsenal with a big win and man city drop pts and gap opens up again

No different with us and Ipswich. Right now it's going better for them than us but it can all change very quickly.

Ten wins from our remaining 21 games won't be easy. We have only won 2 of our last 7, scoring just 5 goals in the process. At that rate we will only win another 6.

I'm not saying we won't do it but I think it could yet be a close run thing.

You're making a good case for why most bookies and prediction markets have us as near-certainties for promotion.

We have to rely on our home form big time. Makes sense why Doug put out the rallying call for full houses till the end of the season.

Mowbrays first season - top in November.
Started a sticky patch in December and never recovered.
In December - it's ok, we'll be fine
January - we'll comfortably make play offs at least - a win and we're back in the top 2.
February - We're still in the play offs
March - we need to win to stay in the playoffs - we'll do it.
April - we need wins and other results to go our way.
May - 9th.
(Roughly as it went)

Not saying it is going to happen - but many many people have kidded themselves in the past that everything will be fine! (And it hasn't been!)

The difference 1 decent signing can make is huge.

Grimes last year for example. Just got to do something similar this Jan.

There is a huge difference between the relative position of us at both the end of December and November than what there was under Mowbray

2 wins 3 draws is the same as 3 wins out of 7. Win the next game and we'd have been through our worse set of results averaging 1.5 points a game. Middlesbrough are finished unless they bring in a striker. The others have to average over 2 points a game if we get just 1.5 points. 4th place is averaging 1.62 points for the season.

We got 8 points from that last block of 5, which is 1.6 ppg. The next block of 5 league games are.

Brum A
Leicester H
Millwall H
Norwich A
Qpr A

Hopefully we can put a run together again and make it less stressful for the fans. 3 or 4 wins, 3 or 4 new signings and all will be calm again.

We have to look at it from the other side not just as a City fan.
Ipswich struggled to beat Oxford today at home having done so well against us before. BUT if you look back at that Ipswich game, they deserved to win but their threat all game was little and we merely capitulated. Our form was very poor as it was today against Charlton. It's us that our poor more than any opposition being much better.
If we can find the form that we had, and I expect we will when all this illness leaves the camp, and a couple of injuries have cleared up along with DaSilva back we will be back on it.
Having Thomas out, Torp ill, Milan ill, DaSilva suspended, Rudoni findiing his feet, Wright miss firing and still carying a knock, Grimes below his standard, I think the bug hit everyone. It has disrupted our play and that's frustrating. Call it a wobble if you like but I have no doubt we will pick up the pace again.

An away point seems to have sent some people over the edge. Weird weird shit. Birmingham City would have an open top bus parade if they get an away point.

Why are you panicking about something that hasn't happened and you have no control over? Every single team in the league would swap positions.

Yes, it’s precisely the memory of that season happening again that's haunting me.

Obviously it may not but it’s still a concern. As I’ve said before, it’s only a worry because this is important to me. If I wasn’t bothered then it would be different.

Just to be clear, I’m not suggesting that the optimists amongst us aren’t bothered. It’s just me, I’ve always been a worrier about most things.

Me too. But honestly it's an overreaction on here.
Apart from the Ipswich result we are winning at home & drawing away which is automatic promotion form, particularly given our magnificent start to the season.

Weird is the right word. We have three more 7 game spells to end the season, none will be as hard as what we’ve just had in terms of either fixture difficulty or match fitness. I’ve also said before, give another team the same set of games in the same timeframe with superflu running through the squad, they ain’t getting 9 points in all probability.

I have been characterised as a pessimist in seasons gone by but what we’ve been seeing after a few games without a win…wild.

That’s as may be but there is no denying that our form has dipped badly. As posted elsewhere, we are 16th in the form table after the last seven rounds of football with just nine points and five goals from those matches.

If that form continues until the end of the season then we won’t finish in one of the automatic places. It’s as simple as that.

Obviously we all hope that the bout of illness affecting the squad will soon pass, BTA will be back, Rudoni and others will rediscover their form and the squad will be strengthened. I most certainly haven’t given up hope - we are still in a good position - but the recent wobble does concern me.

Get the Blues game out the way and we've got a nice chunk of time where we can recover and work on new signings. We should rotate the entire team vs Stoke in the cup. I don't think an away point vs Blues at the end of this run of fixtures would be bad but some might not cope I don't think.

They haven’t won in the last 3 at home and are struggling for goals in general, so it is set up for the inevitable. The defence will be back up to full strength though.

Despite certain posters claiming we’re fine there, midfield has suddenly looked like the weak link and that is because Grimes looks knackered. Hopefully by the time Lesta arrive players are refreshed and we’ve added one or two on top.

We increased our lead over the 3rd and 4th placed teams yesterday.

Can't see anyone in the play off places producing what it would need to overhaul us.

Yes, Watford are on a nice run, but several teams around us have produced those types of runs without sustaining them.

We were always going to hit a sticky patch, I said months ago we would and that the free scoring wouldn't last.

The cup game has come at a great time, we'll go into top of the league by at least 5 points and it gives us an opportunity to get everyone fit and firing.

I guess we will soon find out if Manneh is the “done deal” that some have been claiming for weeks because, if it was, the paperwork could be signed at any time from yesterday onwards. Personally I don’t think it will happen but we will see.
