We were in the top flight with Villa when I started supporting them, Leicester were in second div. There were a lot of villa fans in Nuneaton where I grew up, and also had family that supported villa.

The Leicester rivalry feels more of a recent thing over the last 20-30 years we have been in and out of the same league as them

Tbf Villa are far bigger than the other Midland clubs with support scattered all over the region. I wouldn't expect Villa fans from Lichfield or Tamworth to care about Coventry but i can assure you Villa fans from Warwickshire certainly did, even if they now say they didn't.

It probably depends how old you are. We were in the top flight in the first 28 years of my supporting the club so Villa were generally viewed by our fans as our closest rivals. This was partly exacerbated by our failure to beat them for so long and losing important players to them (Mortimer/ Blair/ Dublin/ Boateng). I imagine those that went to games in the 60's might have seen Wolves as the big rivals.

Tbh, I'm not bothered about 'rivalries' anymore; my feelings on other clubs works on an ongoing changeable basis based on current events.

But Villa was always the team I wanted us to beat most when I started going, and that would probably stand again should we meet them again. So I put them. I don't dislike them any more, though.
