robins open letter to the fans

I agree. It's in stark contrast to the clandestine and distant relationship with the owners. Coupled with his statement about making the Ricoh more our own and his frank assessment of our performances on the pitch I really like the vision he seems to be setting out. Fingers crossed...

robins open letter to the fans

Mark Robins Letter Just received this email. Robins continues to impress me. Absolutely agree with his sentiments and I hope we can build on the positivity seen at the Emirates over the rest of the season. Dear G&P I want to say a big thank you to everyone who supported us at the...

    Proud

I went back to my local in Highbury for a beer last night. The landlord said they could hear the Coventry fans throughout the match from the pub. He was amazed - it's nearly a mile from the ground! :)

    Pub for Arsenal

Good stuff mate. I'll be there from about 5.30. Will be the guy in last season's home shirt probably being ripped by the locals and bar staff. Look out for a sky blue balloon - one of my mates is celebrating 75 years as a Cov fan. That's the equivalent of three life sentences...

    Pub for Arsenal

Absolutely. Good suggestion. The Compton is standard London prices I'm afraid, not cheap... £3.70 for a pint of Guinness and (I think) premium lagers. It's around the £3.50 mark for the ales. Don't shoot me if I'm wrong but I think that's about right. The most convenient Weatherspoons I'd say...

Nice on Steveo, see you there. When you say Oggy you don't mean Chris by any chance?

    Pub for Arsenal

The Compton Arms is my local - very good pub and it's where the CCFC London Supporters Club are meeting before the game. Also the Drayton Park by the ground is a good away fans pub

    If your parents...

Agree with CTID - good thread with some great stories. My dad is from a small town in Co. Kerry, Ireland, but supported Tottenham when he was a kid as he loved western films and decided "Spurs" had to be his team. Everyone else in his town was a Man Utd fan. That was at the beginning of the...

    York away

Good draw. Always had a soft spot for the minstermen. Used to go and watch them occasionally when I lived in York. Won't be easy but we have to be optimistic. Will be a good day out anyway (more pubs per sq m in York than any other city aparently..)

    Marlon King for England???

It's got to be Gabon after watching them play Mexico at the Ricoh. A tantalisingly small population and the coolest football shirt on the planet..

    Sundays game

Well if you change your mind I'll be the only bloke in The Compton Arms off Highbury Corner wearing a Cov shirt and probably the only one watching the telly too...:thinking about:

Good job you asked Nick - they don't have sky anymore! Will have to settle for my local in Highbury and wind up all the Arsenal fans instead! :D

Here you are coop: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Calthorpe+Arms+WC1X+8JR It's about a 10min walk from Kings X. Opposite side of London from Twickernham unfortunately but presume the gaga gig is in the evening in which case you should have plenty of time to get across town...

    Sundays game

Nick - they should be. As per my post to STK the landlord is a Cov fan and it's on Sky so I'd be very surprised if not. I will double check on my way home from work tonight and confirm though. Don't want to get that wrong!

    Sundays game

The Yorkshire Grey is still there STK - I've been past but never inside. Sounds like it's worth checking out though. Suggested The Calthorpe as the landlord is a Cov fan so should be at least one other sky blue to celebrate or commiserate with!

    Sundays game

I won't be able to go either. For any interested London-based sky blues I am planning to watch it in The Calthorpe Arms on Gray's Inn Road. Would be nice to watch it with a few other fans.

Really easy to get to by train. Straight down to Euston then two stops on the Victoria line to Highbury and Islington.
