...obvious must win. True test of whether Frank is a proper manager able to change the song rather than just a one hit wonder. If we are going by the Frank Lampard playbook (a short volume), EMC to return. If he doesn't I prefer Yang to Esse on the left. But Esse on the right, Sakamoto was...

Match Thread Coventry City - Oxford United Match Thread - Saturday 7th Feb

One of the most infuriating things yesterday. The ball would be cleared to our man, usually MVE because he'd been told to be there, who seemed unable to produce a reverse pass to either wing to quickly keep the pressure on. The pass back meant Oxford had time to reset.

Match Thread Coventry City - Oxford United Match Thread - Saturday 7th Feb

Took my Oxford based son-in-law to the game as an Xmas present - bit of a mistake eh! That was terrible and Haji's bad shooting apart, almost all of it can be placed at Lampard's door. Among the list of egregious errors yesterday He has it fixed in his head to pull Torp. Even if he's playing...

This one is at Lampard's door. If you keep doing the same thing, then do not be surprised if you keep getting the same result. He played his favoured team and formation v QPR and guess what we got a sub-standard performance yet again. Even the home wins v Swansea, Millwall and Leicester were...

    Loan watch

Jorge Grant scored the Notts County goal against us in the L2 play offs has had a solid career in lower league football - one season in the Championship with Peterborough IIRC. His longest and best spell has been with Heart of Midlothian. That's the clue to the standard of much of Scottish...

Match Thread Queens Park Rangers - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 31st Jan

Doom laden post alert: We will lose again. Narrow but still a defeat. We'll be bossed in midfield and concede at least one goal by the Kitching-Da Silva combo We shouldn't be surprised; haven't played well since Boro. A series of narrow wins at best in that time. Bossed by Millwall and...

    25/26 January Transfer Window

The main benefit of Esse has been that it has given Sakamoto a kick up the pants and made him perform better. See also the Wolfenden effect. He arrived, didn't play but we had a succession of clean sheets immediately afterwards.. Nothing like a bit of competition. Re Otis comment above. I am...

    25/26 January Transfer Window

I am deeply fed up with the sheer hypocricy of people complaining about the money flowing into Birmingham (who bailed us out) or Wrexham (delete where applicable) when we all know we would love either of their owners to take us over. Both those owners have considerably deeper pockets than DK and...

Match Thread Norwich City - Coventry City Match Thread - Monday 26th Jan

If BTA's fitness is up to it, and it's a big if, then he replaces Rudoni. Failing that Rudoni is firmly told to stay more central and support Torp or Eccles more. Prefer Torp to Eccles but it is not a deal breaker EMC told to really go for it on the basis that he will be replaced by Yang...

    25/26 January Transfer Window

Had Reynolds & co turned up when we were in League 2 under SISU and said he had a plan to get Cov to the Prem, I am quite sure you would have piously ushered them away in disgust saying "you represent the worst in football"...or maybe more likely you would have bitten their hand off, or even...

Match Thread Coventry City - Millwall FC Match Thread - Tuesday 20th Jan

It's nothing to do with Lampard's strategy, high blocks, low blocks. Or any of that. That is just excuses. It's just that JDS and Kitching are emphatically not good enough defenders for a team at our level and with our pretensions. And any amount of good passing or nifty footwork does not...

    Millwall Ratings

I am pleased by the tenor of this debate. Because we are top, people have been in a bit of a fools paradise. Rushworth and poor Millwall shooting saved us last night. Our defence is poor - end of And nor is it Frank's fault or that of the attackers not tracking back. The defence has to take...

You can't blame it on EMC - JDS and Kitching have prime responsibility for not marking players The Leicester goal came from the left as well and you could not blame EMC for that one. It's a brain thing. Neither JDS or KItching are smart enough and neither has the speed that MVE has to compensate
