Rushworth is brilliant, man of the season without question and worth at least 10 points on his own. But the clear learning (to me at least) is not that we must buy him at all costs - that is down to his parent club in the end - but that to succeed at this level you have to spend serious money...

When we were going through that dry spell goals dried up (Oxford, Swansea) mainly though lack of midfield control - just weren't creating the chances. The goals have returned 3-2-2-2. Dun half take off the pressure. Has Frank changed tactics to a more counter-attack style?

Rudoni was still oing like steam train at the end of the Stoke game

The aim has to be a win. Demotivated opposition, languishing in a disappointing mid-table position. No injuries. Grind out a win in a boring low-quality game

I was there. A weird last 20 minutes of "After you Claude". We were anxious because we had been 2-0 up. I remember many steady looping crosses from Mick Coop, caught by their goalie, who booted it up field - and then repeat.

Let's hear it for the weight of BTA's punt forward. Deadweight into the dead zone.

These are professional athletes who train all week just for the 90 minutes on match day. Its what they dream of. They can surely hack 3 games in a week. All this rest and rotation malarkey is massively over-engineering imho. Its for fantasists. They are winning games so will all be as high as...

    Championship thread 25/26!

I see it is ludicrously open for the play offs places. As usual, every season. Its why the Championship is the best league. Teams really have a reason to play hard. And no VAR. Part of me just wants promotion as champions then relagation with more than 12 points and then back here for more fun...

Sitting on a bus in sicily following on SBT. Performance sounds similar to QPR but WBA particularly feeble?

Just don't repeat QPR. Keep the high energy, physical thing going. It will be tougher than results indicate and we rarely do clean sheets, so 1-2

    Boro player ratings

Player ratings are in direct relation to the result at the end, no matter what the performance over 90 minutes. We were a Targett's errant arm and a centimeter on Sarmiento's shot away from 2-2 . Those ratings are fair for 90 minutes - not just how ebullient and relieved you felt when the final...

    Transfer Rumour Frank Onyeka

Exactly the type of player we needed. People may like Eccles and I love Torp but neither has the necessary physicality, particularly with Rudoni and Grimes both having a bit of the dandy dan. The best England central midfield came about by accident in the 1986 World Cup - Glen Hoddle doing the...

This was smash and grab. We were actually a bit lucky. Could easily have lost 3-1. Lots of effort but lacking in skill particularly to keep possession. 8's for Haji, Saka, Thomas 7's for the rest except 6 for MVE, Grimes

Well that was more than a tad lucky. They were much the better side except for the first 20 minutes. We have forgotten how to play possession football. Long ball long ball long ball. On the plus side Wright back to form and so was Rudoni. The much maligned Lati looked tighter on his man than...
