to be honest I use Twitter to keep up to date with things I'm interested in, bands etc. I don't try to cultivate followers and I rarely post. I do try to get opposing views to my own and follow a few tory/right wing journalists and news sites though admittedly I follow more left leaning ones.

I 've never once called for defunding the police. I was very vocal about their reduction in numbers when the tory fan boys didn't feel fit to mention that actual defunding of them had been happening for ten years.

I would never say no to more police but worth remembering who committed the crime that's sparked the debate.

To be honest I don't think we'd ever agree on the majority of it. I have some sympathy for the access and paternity arguments but I have my own thoughts on paternity particularly and the model in this country is archaic but as you say, not for this thread.

but the thread is about violence against women. The statistic I brought up has a bit more relevance than talking about city centre stabbings. I'm not sure how women can do anything to make themselves feel safer if they don't involve men in the conversation and that means all men unless potential...

why are you conflating the two issues? Men killing women is one problem. People getting stabbed in Coventry is another. One doesn't negate the seriousness of the other.

I don't feel like any of it's my fault so i'm not sure why you would. But we are part of society and when incidents happen they highlight certain problems that we as a society have. It's no point in burying are heads in the sand and pretending everything's OK.

there was a simple suggestion put forward regarding crossing the road, (not a solution but just a little thing to help), look at the reaction. There was a 10 percent increase in the number of women killed by a partner in this country last year, how would you like that statistic presented?
