I agree that 45 minutes wastage is way too much, and some kind of clock system (used without problems in rugby) might be looked at to enforce actual playing time. It would be a big break from tradition, but it's hardly rocket science. Another thing that annoys the hell out of me is substituted...

I agree with your previous statement that Haji moved across the defender. The stills (individually and as a sequence) simply prove that when he did that he was not running ahead as others have claimed, but stopping and turning around with the ball gone way past him.

As per the sequence in post #200, Haji stops and turns across the (running) defender's path. Is this a picture of Haji running ahead? The second contact would of course be a no-brainer pen if the ref hadn't seen the first from just a few yards away.

You can't see what I see, and vice versa. So perhaps we've both missed something 😂 Only the ref's view matters anyway, and he was in a very good position to see and "feel" both contacts as they happened.

Haji's turning around across the path of a running player, he's not "already in advance of him" in a foot race. If he was and the guy simply brought him down from behind it would be a stonewall pen. If the ref hadn't seen the first contact, which knocked their player backwards, he would...

You can honestly look at my screenshots in post #200 and not see even the possibility of an obstruction?

The Woolfenden one, which I didn't see in real time, is ridiculous. What stage was the game was at? I'd like to see far more of those given as pens.

I agree. It's like you said before, he moves "across" the defender.

Fair enough, and like I say on another day we might have got it. But there are an increasing number of different versions of this stonewall pen on here now.

At the point of the obstruction I'm talking about, he definitely isn't chasing the ball. Their player is running, Haji is turning. I agree with David O'Day that he "moves across the defender", but the point is you can't do that when the ball has gone past you. The obstruction isn't deliberate...

The ball has been headed past Haji. In turning to chase it, he obstructs their player which knocks him to the ground. The ball's not within playing distance, so it's not shielding. Accidental on the part of both players.

So not the deliberate scissor tackle that people are claiming?
