Plenty of people, including me, have criticised individual woman commentators on this and other threads and no one has pulled us up for it. That's different to making sweeping comments on all women commentators. Of course it may be your experience on other platforms or in actual conversations...

Agree. He's a decent fella but I think his time in the game is up.

And if there is enough audience who share your opinion he'll get another crack. But if there isnt then he may struggle, but its not cancelling him, which is my main point.

So it's either a boring PC answer or it slates women in the game? There is a middle ground. As I've said, if there's a broadcaster that wants to go down that route I'm sure they'll give him a gig.

But his were general comments on women commentators not individuals. And to be honest, if your trying to break into the media I wouldn't have thought singling out individual commentators or summarisers would be advisable no matter the gender of the commentator.

But you could say it, and people would disagree, and you could say it again, and people would disagree, but you're not working for a media outlet. If there's a media outlet covering sports that wants to kick back against women commentators then I'm sure they'll employ him and people who align...

Same,I don't like her actually commentating because she struggles to convey excitement but her summarising of games and general reporting is good.

But he is free to express that opinion, and media outlets are free to say that's not the type of output we want. I'm sure the Daily Mail wouldn't employ Owen Jones and the same with the Guardian and Dan Hodges but that's not cancelling them. Both have ample outlets for expressing their opinions.

No I didn't. But I suppose it depends what he said. I am uneasy with the way some stuff is dragged up from decades ago and used against people, JCH for example. But you also have to think about your target audience. GB News suspended a presenter for taking the knee. Was that cancel cultureor...

Yeah, I agree. It's not what I personally want to hear so wouldn't listen to him if that's what he going to come out with rather than commenting on actual games.

How do they cancel you? I honestly don't get what you mean. If they stop listening to you or not reading what they say that's not cancelling that's just choice.

Cancel culture? Surely excluding half the population from working in the media covering the national sport based on their gender is cancel culture?
