Possibly. Of course my take is based on the assumption the residence in Kentish Town is his which it may not be. Though if it isn't that opens up a load more questions.

Did wonder if maybe his surgery was less security conscious than the London consituencies. And if that is the reason then a lot of planning and research went into this murder.

But if the house they're searching in Kentish Town is his residence why did he travel to Southend? There are Tory constituencies closer to him than there. Amess's voting record isn't particularly controversial, as far as middle Eastern policy I'd say its pretty much aligned with most tory mps.
