Guess The Crowd v Notts County

I'm not really sure where the expectations of massive crowds come from. Our historical high average home gate is 21k at the Ricoh, often made up of 2k or more away fans. 20k home fans would be excellent really. If it sold out like that Chelsea game, you'd be looking at record gate receipts for...

    Wasps current finances & hope

Why did they spend an not insignificant sum on planning consultancy if it was always too small? Surely the planners would have advised that from the beginning.

    Wasps current finances & hope

Why are they £1.5m into an overdraft as well as in receipt of shareholder loans? This is Wasps with 365 day income from the stadium yet needing an overdraft to cover cashflow. Even Otium / CCFC haven't used an overdraft despite the club effectively having no regular income for the close season.

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

NHS PS' main objective I think is to dispose of 'obsolete' NHS estate. They act as landlord to other NHS healthcare providers, charging market rates which is just robbing Peter to pay Paul

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

They've won a lot of community contracts but haven't made a penny in profit yet (according to their published accounts anyway).

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

There isn't sufficient money in the NHS for the most part to make it attractive, after the changes to the Public Contract Regulations there was anticipated to be a rush of interest from overseas, 2 years on it hasn't materialised. The only wholesale privatisation of an NHS hospital ended...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Not a problem for us as we have no state owned enterprises that trade in the open market

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

No, I am just saying that FTA are not a pre requisite for trade. The US being a clear case in point. I don't see us agreeing an FTA with the US, even if we did I would suggest it would be weighted heavily in their favour, just like the TTIP.

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Not necessarily, it assumes all of those countries already have a FTA with the EU which isn't true. Our biggest non EU export market is the USA, they do not have an FTA with the EU (so none with the UK either). The US has a slight trade surplus with the UK currently but nowhere near the level of...

    Things that annoy you

The way the word 'space' has now been repurposed by the business brigade: "We're trying to move into the IT and Technology space" "There is a lot of work going on in that space at the minute"

Will our fans behave at County?

Probably because of things like Hillsborough and the Bradford fire.

Guess The Crowd v Notts County

It'll be 20k + no problem, it isn't far off the same number of home tickets sold as Saturday, plus there will be an extra 2-3k away fans.

A Visit to Coventry: Hope Springs Eternal

Nice piece. Nice to read somebody appreciating the place they're visiting, rather than deriding everywhere as a shithole.

Let’s tax the old to feed the young

I assume there are millions of cheap houses that can be bought for nothing to do up, whilst holding down a full time job.

Let’s tax the old to feed the young

Whilst I know what you're trying to say, today's economy is built on people doing exactly those things. In fact even your job is reliant on people of all ages buying unnecessary new cars etc. I agree that this is a stupid idea, it does nothing to solve the underlying causes of the housing being...
