11K seems well off to me. I doubt you could buy the hardware for that let alone install it. We do a bit of work for the fire pump industry at work and I've been in a few pump houses in my time and typically they have two pumps, two electric motors, two diesel motors and everything is dual...

Films Not As Good As The Books ?

The beach has to be the worst adaptation of a book ever. The only thing that they got right was Robert Carlyle as Daffy. Other than that a complete catastrophe. If you want to read a fantastic book and watch a fantastic adaptation of said book The English Patient is about the finest example of...

Just watching channel four news and isn't Teresa May a hateful bitch. Completely ignoring the questions asked and kept reading from a script.

    Court hearing

What about the councils legal costs? Because it wasn't the council, they won. What happens if it goes to JR2, it's another council whitewash and the loosing side has to pick up the councils legal bill again? Over £1M last time wasn't it?

Just caught the back end of an article on midlands today about it with local councils rushing to assure tennants in high-rise accommodation and they were speaking to one councillor (didn't catch which council) and he was assuring their tennants that any properties that had been clad by them had...

Possibly the most ironic post in the history of SBT on any forum ever.

He's no DUP man that's for sure. Although you seem to like them despite their "principles".

Not really. The fuse box job is to protect the cables in the circuit against overload. Same goes for your plug top fuse it's there to protect the cord from overload. There's usually internal fuses in appliances to protect the internal workings but not always.

Heard a guy on the radio earlier who lived locally and he recons that the original finish on the building was concrete that had been finished with a corrugated look. He says that they fixed the cladding straight on top of it leaving lots of voids running the entire length of the building. He...

    General Election

Hopefully. Always thought leaving the EU and joining the EEU was a good idea years and years before brexit was even mentioned so we could take back control of things like fishing (because the EU regulations for fishing are completely mental and detrimental to fishing stocks rather than protect...

Agreed. I'd quite happily have voted to leave the EU and join the EEU (think that's correct) which is what Norway are a member of.

Actually he already announced that we were having a referendum and set the date before seeking reform of the EU. As usual you have your horse and cart the wrong way round. The referendum was happening with or without reform. You could argue that the result was an effect of the reform deal...

Because almost every raw material from metal to oil is traded in US$. When that raw product enters the UK market it's price is converted from US$ to UK£ driving up the cost because of the weak pound. So anything manufactured in this country has increased in cost, anything transported in this...

That gets a big like from me. It's like some people believe we're still a big manufacturing powerhouse and if people want our products they must bow down to our demands. Simply not true. We're a service powerhouse these days and we've largely been able to do that because of our access to the...

    Things That Bore You ?

Cricket full stop. I even went to the trouble of going to watch a Warwickshire game once just incase it's one of those sports you just don't get unless you're there in person absorbing everything. There's a day in my life I won't get back.

Hadn't considered the devaluation of the pound as a factor. Which of course wasn't a brexit effect it was a natural repositioning of the value of the pound which was overvalued, either that or it's temporary and it will all be back to normal in a couple of months and you'll get the same amount...

Wouldn't they have came here as economic migrants in the first place? Have pay and conditions in this country deteriorated that badly that remaining in their home country is a better option?
