Well, no, there is no law of the game that explicitly states a "scissoring action" is automatically seen as a red card offence. It can be, and has been given, as a red card, agreed, but it's still an interpretation on the part of the referee.

Maybe slightly harsh, but silly challenge regardless. Can see why it was given.

Apologies for any misunderstanding. I was and did not say anyone was, I was clarifying my own point that I am not making an exception of them, and to do so would be harsh.

But, to keep honest to my original point, it's only the media narrative I am in some sense "attacking". Wrexham is just a symptom of a wider systemic disease, and making an exception out of them would be harsh in the grand scheme of things.

True, but what I'm trying to get out is there is now a lack of subtly to so-called "game management" in modern football. I always found things such as time wasting to be more of an art, but now it's just so blatant and referees sit by and allow it to happen. I wont give away my exact age, but...
