I think Wenger didn’t get past ligue 2 and Houllier was a teacher…which I guess makes sense. There’s always one or two top flight managers that seem to be on borrowed time, almost regardless of results/performances…yet more recently others like arteta and Solskjaer seem to be given the chance...

Exactly this. His track record in management speaks for itself. Its interesting to me how influence on the pitch/in the dressing room as a player doesn’t always translate effectively to management. Tony Adams leaps to mind.

Absolutely loved Stewart Robson. He had everything…apart from the career his ability deserved.

Yeah, you’d think that it’s something other than his performances last season which have cost him his place. I’m not speculating that it’s anything too nefarious but like you say as we only had the snapshot of his performances. I think some of us are slightly confused that he hasn’t featured.

It’s a strange one. He looked perfectly competent in the games he played last year. He’s also got a bit of versatility about him. Robins clearly doesn’t rate him though.
