If we are going 4-4-2 I would say he is a better option than Kilbane on the left, at least he can sometimes beat his man and get to the byline opposed to Kilbane who can't even attempt it

I was only on about this season It wasn't a defence of Thorn before you shit your panties and jump on me, it was a criticism of the board. It didn't make sense to sack him so quickly and then leave someone else in charge for 5+ games whilst he is doing a worse job. They might as well have left...

Exactly, the board only tolerated Thorn for 3 games but someone who is doing worse is still in charge for the next few weeks. I thought the idea of doing it so early was to stop us being cut adrift but then the timeframe to appoint a new man basically makes that pointless

Shaw decided he wanted extra midfield cover opposed to defence? Makes sense considering Barton is unfit and Jennings missed quite a bit of pre season. Also a midfielder is more likely to be able to change a game than a defender
