Actually, ZOHO isnt bad for a very small team of people, and is very low cost. Ended up switching to Salesforce when we connected all the International subsids in.
Back in 1995, I used ACT. Pretty good for us then, and very easy to modify to suit the needs of my business.
Its quite a while since I purchased one, but yes features came into it, as did consultancy for set-up, training and support.
Number of contacts were not an issue though, but as I said, things must have changed. (not at all surprised by that)

When my mate was diagnosed with terminal cancer, I contacted the club after a few games of the season, and asked for the cost to upgrade the season tickets from block 19 to one of the corporate lounges. Simple enough question you would imagine. 2 customers willing to spend more money...
