Ffs. There must be a way round it, surely?

Derek Henderson was a quality writer - one of many at the CET. Not something you could accuse the current iteration of having.

Ronnie was great to see flying down the wing. My dad, cynically, always used to say he was a better player in the few weeks before the Wales team was selected though. There was another Welsh international winger at the time called Gil Reece, which somehow confused some people... Sheffield Weds...

I remember the temporary scaffolding camera platform in the Main Stand, and the crowd singing "we're on the telly, we're on the telly, ee aye addio... etc"

Yes, I was there too with my dad and Granddad. 1964 sounds right.

    Snow storm

I thought that was December 1989? It was indeed a Saturday. We were living in Sharnford at the time, and I got up to go to Radford (Jag) for overtime, got as far as the M6 junction, and turned round and went home as it was coming down so thick. Best decision I could make. Several others...

    Snow storm

Bernard Tranter and Gordon Tickle (Cresswell, Woodlands) took us there in about 1966, so we could walk the length of the tops of the hills. Loved it. Fond memories.

    Things that annoy you

You have my full sympathy. I was gradually shunted into that kind of environment after the company was taken over. Happily I managed to wangle early retirement and redundancy though.

They're a bunch of sell-outs. Some boycott that was. They need to learn from the masters 😉 Mind, I'm happy for Doug to pocket their greasy Sovs.

    Dry January

I went nearly four years 'dry' without really needing to. I just started one of my regular monthly dry spells (about two or three a year, usually) and it spun out to almost four years! I broke it on Christmas Day (I'd decided to do so some weeks before) with a glass of sherry before lunch, and...

    For those that remember 1967

Yeah, me too. I was 13, and as stated elsewhere, it was a bit over my head too, but I feckin' loved it all - particularly in the covered end at 'that' season-defining match. It was such a blow, though, when that incredible 25 match unbeaten run came to an end on the first day of the following...

    Need support lads

So sorry Houch. This thread somehow completely passed me by until just now. No idea how. Try to stay strong mate. It's an awful thing to go through. I can't offer prayers, but I'll be thinking of you both. X

    Death List 2025

Try Dancing Down the Stony Road. It's proper Delta Blues-style for the most part, inspired by his struggle with pancreatic cancer around the turn of the century, and as such might be seen as a hard listen - but I absolutely love it. Probably the best thing he ever did (IMHO of course).
