I was quite impressed when the rumours started flying around about high street vouchers for £500 for adults and £250 for children started flying around on Tuesday. Here’s why John Lewis and Boots to cut 5,300 jobs the day after it’s revealed there’s little help for the high street Boots and John...

Linford Christie was offended under similar circumstances about the stereotype also. IIRC it was a tv advert for a newspaper after he’d won Olympic gold, something along the line of asking where he keeps his batteries while obviously referring to the outline of his penis in his Lycra running shorts.

I don’t think anyone is disputing any of that but all the major European countries had empires and most of them stretching to all four corners of the globe, all taken by force, all dealt in slavery, all raped and pillaged, all killed in huge numbers. Very uninspiring. I can only assume that they’re either keeping something back for the autumn budget when the miracle they’re hoping falls in their laps doesn’t materialise or they’re holding back for next year when the transition period ends and the inevitable fuck up that’s brexit hits home.

Sunak considers £500 vouchers for all UK adults to spend in Covid-hit firms Might be just paper talk but this would be much more sensible than returning to something like quantitive easing like last time.

I don’t know about total deaths but it did cross my mind that deaths from seasonal flu may drop as a result of social distancing, wearing face masks etc. Couple that with more people getting seasonal flu jabs than normal. Me for instance. I’m supposed to have a flu jab every year as I have...

I see ministers have started lining up to rewrite what Boris said about care homes. What’s the betting that Boris disappears for a good week now from the media.

And the winner of the least surprising headline of the Coronavirus pandemic goes to... There’s plenty more government blame to be passed around yet by Boris and Co. This will just be the first, they’ll be blaming the NHS that they’ve been sycophantically clapping for next.
