He always worked hard at Vale but he lacks that cutting edge and intelligence to be a top L1 striker who will score 20+ goals per season, in fact he has only achieved that feat once in his entire career

Tom Pope played 176 league games for Vale and scored 59 league goals for us - nigh on a record of 1 in 3 which isn't a completely terrible ratio for a striker in the lower leagues. However, 31 of those league goals came in our promotion campaign from L2 when we had a decent side for that level...
