We're walking this league: shots stats prove it

Good early signs, but they exactly that. The defensive side of our game is second to none, conceding low amounts of shots, goals and keeping an impressive 7 clean sheets in 11. You couldn't ask for more. Attacking wise, we haven't been as good, but we've still done well minus a 3 game skid. I...

Another win. Another clean sheet. With the defence as good as it is atm, I weren’t worried at 1-0 at any point. Was ill today so didn’t make it, on Gillette Soccer Saturday, Jeff Stelling mentioned we’ve only conceded one goal at home, that O’Brien mistake. What a brilliant defence we’ve got at...

Great to get an early goal. If it goes 1-0 at HT, I feel we could dick them 3 or 4-0.

    Willis - ball watching.

For what it’s worth, I do rate McDonald higher than Willis. Rod has more experience, and specifically experience in what it takes to win this league (so to do many of our summer signings). However, some of the comments directed are harsh on Willis, attributing blame to him for goals that weren’t...

    Willis - ball watching.

I don’t think he is ‘leagues’ ahead of him. I do think they compliment each other well. Willis still is ‘stained’ with his involvement with past City teams. I think that’s what attracts some hate. McDonald hasn’t been perfect, and neither Willis, but he and Willis clearly have a very good...

    Willis - ball watching.

Weird. If anything, I thought Rod looked like he was in ‘no man’s land’ for the Cambridge goal, their striker got in between both our centre halves so I thought they were equally to blame. As for that goal, I feel the analysis is harsh. The ball takes a deflection, and the striker finished...

We beat the league leaders 3-0, and have won every game bar 2 by two or more goals. Don’t really know what more you can expect? We went through a 3 game dry spell but that’s it.

We’ve got Reid out on loan, he’s got 3 in 6 so far, I imagine that he’ll probably want to come back and give his all for Cov as I imagine we’ll be aiming for automatic promotion and Colchester aren’t doing great so far. Maybe he’s on loan till Jan for this reason - give him some perspective and...

McNulty is a 1 in 3 striker in L2. With the team playing better of late, I think he'll start banging in some goals and agree with Robins' that he'll be a 15+ goal a season striker.

    January transfer window

Yes, you can tell that Robins has gone for experienced pros who have had past success in this division. I think there’s a lot of balance in there, we don’t concede a lot, and we’ve hit a bit of goal scoring form too.

    January transfer window

I think the transfer policy of MR and TW has been very deliberate and every player has been brought in for a reason. Whereas last season, for various reasons from budget limitations to unrealistic targets, we relied on loans that weren’t first or second choice options. Papering over the cracks...

    January transfer window

Yes I did when someone put on here and it made for an interesting read. But, I think this is more for hot shot prem youngsters going out to Championship teams more than in L2. We’ll likely get an U23 player like Nazon or someone recovering from a spell from injury.

I’ve got a feeling we’ll finally give someone a hiding, it’s at home and off the back of two consecutive wins (so of course we’ll lose now). 4-0 to Coventry, hopefully. Starting XI: Burge Grimmer Willis McDonald Stokes Kelly Doyle Jones Nazon DKE Biamou (McNulty if fully fit)

    January transfer window

I was thinking more along the lines of a loan. But I imagine if we’re in the top 7 a bit more could be found for a promotion charge. Even then, I don’t think it’s a necessity if we extend Nazon’s loan. With him, Jones and McNulty in the front 4, I think there’s a lot of goals there. I think...

    Swindon Highlights

Exactly, so if McDonald’s was a red, that is too. But different refs, circumstances and so on. It was at least a free kick though. I’d just like to see a bit of common sense from refs instead of taking the rules literally. A tiny bit of contact shouldn’t really be sending a professional athlete...

    10 game review

Looking at our next 5 games, with 3 of them being home games, we should be looking to win every one. I think we’ll get 4 wins and a draw personally.

    Swindon Highlights

Agreed, but, in fairness to the ref, he did look like he went down too easily. A lot of my gripe with modern footballers is that they look for contact and go down in a really unrealistic fashion as soon as they brushed.

    January transfer window

It would all be dependent on injuries. As it stands, I’d probably look to maybe ‘replace’ Andreu. Even young players, like DKE, have come in and done well. So I do believe we have one of the most well rounded squads in the league, if not the most well rounded.

For me, the most pleasing aspect of tonight’s win was coming back from behind and it’s a bonus it was away too. I was worried that our results seemed to depend on us getting the first goal. Let’s hope it’s the first of a few comeback wins! Totally agree, every aspect of the result was just...
