Sky Blue youth superstars who never made it...

Don't want to disagree with Bertola and certainly not with Greggs and his owl....but I don't recall Gavin Strachan or Ducros being labelled as names who could make it really big? Bigi was someone who acquired a big reputation very quickly - but I never understood the hype there.

Sky Blue youth superstars who never made it...

Thinking of youth players who broke into the first team and we all thought might be the next big thing. I'll start the ball rolling: Kevin Thornton When he broke into the team under Coleman I expected him to go far in the game (I understand the reasons why he didn't but he had so much talent...

    Highfield Road Best Memories ?

6.36 vs. Southampton - might have been Whelan's home debut? Brilliant moments and memories -but can't help thinking that Noel should have had a much bigger career. We represented his peak years. He was good enough to go further after he left us.

Sounds like pretty decent half time entertainment to me if you replace Morris Dancers with Boris Johnson and his cabinet.

    Picking the Carcass of Bury

'picking the carcass'.....with a title like that Greggs bird of prey will be getting excited and on his way north as we speak.

Transfer Rumour What is it with shooting?

"SHOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT" "FORWAAARDDDDDDDDDDDDD" Classic coaching from the terraces to professional players.

Match Thread Watford vs. Coventry City Match Thread - Tuesday 27th Aug

Not at all worried about this result for many of the reasons pointed out - playing a strong Premier League team in desperate need of a result. A good work out for some of our players against top class opposition. No disgrace. All that really matters is the League game at the week-end. Fans...

To a man all intently looking out for a Watford supporter in a pink shirt.

    Homophobic chanting

Hope you're suitably punishing the youngster Pete for that kind of Snowflake attitude. :emoji_relaxed: I'm actually getting genuinely concerned that I found it hilarious and I like to think that I'm a very reasonable and open minded 48 year old!

And a bloke in a pink shirt. Never mind the chants - he was lucky that Greggs didn't set the owl on him.

    Jordan Shipley

I think that's right actually - Hiwula is a confidence player and we certainly do carry him at times. On the other hand he scores key goals and his pace is a real asset. I think it will be interesting if we play a midfield 3 of O'Hare - Kelly - Allen.....would this additional creativity mean...

    Jordan Shipley

I agree with most of this Grendel - although it's very tempting to just quote one of your favourite lines and say 'Telfer was shite.' Only joking! On saying that we certainly should have accepted £4MM from Blackburn for Telfer or whatever silly money they were offering. I agree he had a good...

    Jordan Shipley

I think that's a fair point Evo. I haven't seen the stats but Shipley is very effective in a midfield 3 both driving forward and scoring. I would say that Bayliss is a better technical player and has the ability to run with the ball and literally glide by players (at his best Bayliss reminds...

Favourite football ground that no longer exists (excluding HR)

Not my favourite area of London in any way - but remember finding a nice boozer ahead of the relegation escape game. Then true to form running very hard out of Tottenham as it all kicked off afterwards.

Ha! Another advantage of being on the lower terrace behind the goal at the old Derby ground. Switching codes - the last time Cov Rugby played a competitive game at Moseley one of our fans actually fell through the flooring in the stand - Cov fans must be cursed.

    Homophobic chanting

Laughing at your post Otis and agreed. But I found Neville's recollection pretty funny and it's actually amazing that pros don't react more often to the abuse from some of those in the stands. I know a couple of players and the abuse is horrendous. Same applies to fans abusing the officials...

    Transfer Rumour Morgan Fox

I agree with this shmeee. I have a suspicion that Zain Westbrooke could fill the role of defensive midfielder later in his career but not sure he's quite there as yet. Eccles by most accounts also looks highly promising in the defensive midfielder holding position and plays there for the U23s.

I always enjoyed: Derby County - you could sense the tradition and it was a fine football stadium. Great view behind the goals on the lower terrace. Discuss.
