    School Protests

Yeah but the question you asked is an imaginary situation. The teacher hasn’t been arrested and neither has their been any suggestion that they will be as far as I know.

    School Protests

It was only a couple of years ago there was an amendment to the law so Sikh’s could carry kirpans without fear of prosecution. Just last year a book had to be withdrawn from the classrooms following protests from Hindus. Also last year Christians protested when a school introduced Yoga classes.

I never said it was on blasphemy. Still doesn’t explain why the teacher ever thought it was a good idea.

Do you know what. I ain’t bothered. I don’t know why a teacher would want to show one to a classroom though. If for no other reason than it was easier not to. All he had to say was that images of Muhammad is considered blasphemy in Islam. Job done, that’s religious education. Not satisfied with...

    School Protests

I haven’t actually called it anything. I’ve merely pointed out that blasphemy although no longer a crime in itself it is still possible to treat blasphemy as a hate crime. The old law wasn’t actually scraped that long ago, dated back to medieval times and allowed it actually to be a crime to...

    School Protests

Why do I need to choose a side? Am I not allowed to remain bipartisan? I don’t have faith but I believe in respecting faith and people of faith. Regardless of faith.

Unlikely but it does raise the question of halal meat. Many non Muslims refuse to eat it or get angry about the prospect of eating it. Just to prove irrationality exists on both sides of the argument.

    School Protests

I haven’t actually chosen a side so please don’t choose one for me. All I’ve pointed out is some holes in your knowledge. You don’t think it’s a hate crime but you’ve also used an example of other religions using religious imagery to explain why it should be OK. It comes down to respect really...

And then the red tape was a good thing because it readies business for rest of the world trade. And then businesses should take the opportunity to do business with countries that have less red tape like the US or Canada. Moving the goalposts.

    School Protests

The common law of blasphemy was abolished, doesn’t mean you can’t be trialled for blasphemy as a hate crime. So what you say is only partially true.

Most religions themselves depict their own god themselves. Islam doesn’t depict either god or the prophet Muhammad. That’s the major difference here. It isn’t blasphemy to depict god, Jesus, the Virgin Mary etc in Christianity. In fact go into any church anywhere in the world of any domain of...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

If people wanted more control on EU migration all they had to do was insist that our own sovereign governments upheld EU rules to the later. It was actually very disingenuous of David Cameron to renegotiate the rules when he/we wasn’t even observing the previous rules. Or maybe they should have...

So who did leave voters listen too? They’d had enough of the experts, they didn’t apparently listen to the charlatans. You’re on a slippery slope of listening to the racist only.

You’re on a slippery slope there Steve. If you’re going to start eliminating the reasons people didn’t vote leave when that reason becomes obvious bullshit it isn’t going to be long before you get to the point where ultimately the only “legitimate” reason left for voting leave is racism. NHS...

The result of assembly elections next year could settle it. DUP are fucked, UUP aren’t picking up those votes the Alliance party are mainly and they’re by partisans. Sinn Fien aren’t making gains but the SDLP are and if they take control of the assembly then it’s a border poll. Simples.
