    Is Maddison a joker?

Harry Kane is a poor man's Dion Dublin. Only half joking as well. Remember Kane is playing in more dominant teams.

    FA Cup Second Round Draw

This is exactly what I've been saying for years. It drives me crazy when some of the usual suspects on here write about L1 footballers and say: "he's shite at football." They simply have no idea as to what it takes to get to pro level.

    FA Cup Second Round Draw

Hopefully not with lads queuing up to get in as soon as the doors open at 11am. That's really depressing. Especially if I'm in the queue.

    FA Cup Second Round Draw

Anyone got any special memories of Ipswich games if we play them? I remember the game at Portman Rd in the relegation season. Sort of a must win to have a reasonable chance of not going down. I think we'd been on a decent run as well with the arrival of Hartson. Typically Bellamy missed a...

Houchen's Head - I stand corrected! I was too young to watch Bobby McDonald play and also Tommy H! As you say I've only heard good things about Bobby - a Sky Blue legend.

I agree. Emerson was a really significant loss in our history. A fantastic all round midfielder who would have gone onto great things. McGrath was a very effective defensive player in his era though - and played very high class midfielders out of the game. But certainly agree that Lloydy's...

More than understand that JHB. Very different players. I see there's a real argument for playing McGrath as the defensive midfielder in a midfield 3. He'd do brilliantly. But in my dream 1988-89 team above (which could have happened if we had played the transfer market differently); I just...

I've got mixed feelings on the book. Enjoyed the early years and the glory years with CCFC. Then the book descended into a series of rants and raves at officials as Houch seriously struggled with managing in the lower leagues. Kind of depressing. It seems to be fair that Houch is a very...

Could not agree more Legia. It was mismanagement at it's very best in not securing Pearce on a long term contract. From his very first appearances it was obvious that he was a very strong and dynamic player - destined for a very good career. We've had exceptional right backs in the time...

    We want to go home.

You should invite Gregg and his Owl along as well for a proper SBT dust up. I'd pay good money to see you lot fight it out - even if just for comedy value. My money would be on the Owl to fly out victorious.

Smith was interesting. The longer he played for us the more ineffective he was. Not sure if that was due to over-coaching or being the team's only real attacking outlet and being marked out of games. Similar situation to Richie Partridge - and in Richie's case I definitely blamed Mcallister...

In modern commentary times, Clive and Benno would find a way to get both names wrong.

Fair points Legia. I've taken the comments from Sillett from a fairly long interview on youtube. I was surprised at how upfront he was - there was certainly lots going on behind the scenes that was kept out of the public eye at the time.

Just imagining if those signings had happened.....;. Our team the season after the FA cup win could have looked something like the following (playing 3-5-2 Italia 90 style): Ogrizovic Borrows Kilcline Peake Phillips...

I agree with most of what you say Legia for sure. 100% agree we needed that high quality addition to midfield and a dynamic left back. For me both of these issues needed fixing ahead of adding to our forward line. Not saying that Speedie didn't play for the team either and he certainly was...

Houch still looks fighting fit - good stuff. And I don't think the haircut has changed since 87 either!

The other more controversial question is if Speedie was the right signing at the right time. He was brilliant but I never was sold on the idea that he fitted our team at that time. I think Sillett now sees the signing as a mistake as Speedo for all his brilliance disrupted the dressing room...
