I think it’s worth trusting the judgement of Robins. Two seasons ago, Hyam was brought in as a development player and was 4th choice for much of our promotion season, the next season won player of the year. Robins has a plan for the wider squad.

Aside from McFadzean, all of our CBs are under the age of 25 and there’s about 5 of them off the top of my head, with only Drysdale yet to make a start in L1.

I think we’ve well too, to the extent that I don’t think Hyam is necessarily a shoe-in as a starter. McFadzean is going to be a big player for us next season as he offers something we lacked last season: experience and leadership (despite Kelly, you need more than one leader). I do think Willis...

    Jordan Willis

Agreed. However, I believe there was interest from Championship teams, but they were probably signing him as a role player as opposed to a starter. Very good defender, good signing for Sunderland. But, like Hyam (so far) lacks goal scoring from set pieces. Hopefully, McFadzean, Rose and Hyam...

    Ponti

I can’t see how anyone can have any complaints. He’s getting game time in our league, if he does well, it’s a win-win.
  6. Mucca Mad Boys

    Ponti

Bakayoko had a better strike rate at periods last season. He’s not had a sustained run in the team to take a realistic sample from. Connor Chaplin’s strike rate for Pompey based off minutes played:goals is similar to JP for us, albeit over 20-odd appearances. Frankly, he’s an unknown character...

    St Andrews confirmed!

Frankly, both sides are damaged by our absence from Coventry. Therefore, I think both sides will eventually come to an agreement at some point.
  8. Mucca Mad Boys

    Ponti

He does rate him, but Ponticelli has some raw attributes and isn’t the best striker at the club. I see a lot of potential in JP, but, he’s not proved that in the adults game. Age group football is good, but almost a completely different sport compared to the men’s game.

    Thomas to Barnsley

Really like Thomas, he’ll improve massively and will hopefully live up to his price tag. He has got to work on his game in the final third, finishing and assisting. Some of that will come with experience.

    Doesn’t require actual journalism though?

    Walker or Mcnulty

That said, we’re not even linked with McNulty. So the question is based on a faulty premise...

    Transfer Rumour Bids for Chaplin

Looks like Sunderland’s GK is off, so Burge could end up being a starter for the new season.

    Next Seasons Confirmed Squad/Transfer Rumours

That’s not terrible for a team who got relegated. I just don’t see where this signing would fit in. Maybe he’s available on a really cheap fee? All of Tyler Walker, Eaves and Marquis are the kind of players you fit into your team.

    Next Seasons Confirmed Squad/Transfer Rumours

If I had to sacrifice a striker to get Walker, I’d probably ship Bakayoko. I don’t think we should get rid of Chaplin, at least not this season.

    William Bapaga

By the looks of it, no.
  17. Mucca Mad Boys

    Transfer Rumour Bids for Chaplin

That’s fair enough because we’re not in a position where we need to sell Chaplin. If the right offer came in, I’d let him go because right now he’s probably not gonna be a starter right away. I’d take an interest when bids of £1m started coming in.
  18. Mucca Mad Boys

    Shipley

He’ll probably start the season on the bench if Bayliss stays. But, given the nature of the season, he’ll definitely get plenty of chances. He did well at the tail end of last season, and has been a bit underrated.

Sightings of CCFC Footballers (away from the pitch)

I was out drinking after rugby and bumped into Tom Davies in Earlsdon. One of his mates suggested that he was quite lonely in Rugby and he wasn’t actually supposed to out that night. Although, disclaimer, it was on a Saturday after a match.

    Realistic ambitions for this season

You can’t win. What if we sign these players on 2 year deals and they take the league by storm? We’re in a position where our players will go on the cheap if they’re in their contract year. We’ve been flexible in the transfer market, when we wanted rid of Ogogo and JCH, we were able to do so...
