That doesn’t make sense. It was very clearly a 4-4-2 with a midfield of Bayliss-Kelly-Doyle-Shipley.

You don’t need to change your formation because a weaker team decides change formation a bit. The average football fan wants to try and mix things up as soon as there’s a goal or a loss. That can actually be a detriment rather than a help.

MR has gone from 4-4-2 in L2, to 4-2-3-1 and now 4-3-3 in L1, he’s a tactically flexible manager.

I wouldn’t say we sat on 1 goal, we just didn’t create enough, unfortunately. We created a lot in the 1st half in fairness. Tuesday night game with 9 men, we were probably a bit tired from that.

We got the 3pts, that was my primary concern! I felt O’Hare and Wakefield showed a bit of promise in their cameos too which is good to see. We could have a good season this year.

Thought we controlled the game very well, and we never really looked threatened! Good performance, but this was an opportunity to put Gillingham to the sword. You don’t even want to give them the opportunity to get back into it!

We’re looking really good. Gooden is very good in that lone striker role, surprisingly good in the air, is quick and has a very good work rate. McCallum is doing a good job at RB considering he’s left footed. The defensive unit is looking very strong, Hyam is playing very well too. Allen in...

I was agreeing with you btw!

This idea of a ‘paper thin’ squad is silly suggestion. How many clubs in L1 have more than 21-23 squad players? Not many. That’s not even including young players like McCallum, Eccles and Bapaga and the other young players we’ve got. Since there’s 18 places in a match day squad, and you can...

We’ve got a few injuries and suspensions, we’re still paying their wages.

No it’s not, we have 23 senior players.

With our player turnover, I don’t think that’s much of a problem. You love a negative spin on anything.

There’s a balancing act with players like this. You don’t want to ‘tame’ them per se, because having that commitment and drive gives people that edge. However, we need to manage it, because that was a pretty senseless challenge to make in the circumstances. That second red card should have...

Next 5 matches, how many points

I think we’ll at least get 3 wins, 2 home and an away win too. We’ll probably draw and lose a game too.

Scored a few in preseason and scored a wonder goal v Rovers. Evidently not a terrible player. Judging players after a couple of appearances is stupid. Let’s wait until he’s played a few games.

Portsmouth have got a good team that should be competing for the top 2 really. They spent £2m on Marquis! Away at Portsmouth is a big task for any L1 midfield. If we can’t find a CM good enough do make an immediate difference, I’d invest in the development of Westbrook and Shipley.

Robins has stated the loan market has been ‘difficult’ this season. I like Shipley, if he get a consistent run in central midfield this season, he’ll score 5-10 goals. He and Allen could be big contributors this season.

We could do with a loanee or two, but we’ve got options formation-wise. We could easily revert to a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 if need be. I thought Eccles looked alright in his cameo role v Southend, maybe he’s close to stepping up?

He made a mistake yesterday, but isn’t going to make a mistake in a 50 game season? Been a good player for us! So far, he’s been a really good signing.

Probably is too much to ask for. We had the likes of Ogogo and Andreu not getting a game last year who eventually asked to leave... When we have players like Ogogo that are sat on the bench not getting minutes, we moan at the manager for buying such players. Kelly, Shipley and Allen, with...
