2020-21 Early Season Sky Blues Talk Half-Truths and Theories.....

The job got done and got promoted whilst outperforming the other relegated teams. Playoffs or automatic, the result was the same. We then followed up by outperforming all the promoted teams bar Luton, and then won L1 the season after. Swindon were almost definitely in a better position than us...

2020-21 Early Season Sky Blues Talk Half-Truths and Theories.....

Exiting League 2 is quite difficult. Before ourselves and Donny the season prior, I think around 2 teams managed to bounce back in a 5-10 year period. Considering the rebuild we had to do, and only few players (Burge, Willis, Stokes/Haynes - anymore?) survived from the team that got relegated...

I stand corrected. In my defence, it’s easy to miss 5 appearances as a sub - and the total game time probably just about exceeds 90 minutes.

The consensus is that they’ll be mid table side from the previews I’ve read. I’ve seen 16th and 11th for Bristol. Whilst we’re going to survive by the skin of our teeth - which I’d take! The bookies have us above the bottom 3 too, which is a good sign.

Who has also never played a Championship game in his career (EDIT - yes he has, at the very start of his career). Gooden has had a good preseason, and we’ll need him to score goals this season - and I believe he will. This game, however, we will probably be on the back foot and relying on...

I was surprised to see that in our L2 season, Walker scored 3 in 12 games for Forest (3 in 17 including Bolton loan spell). In terms of Championship experience, he's already ahead of Gooden. My opinion is that we may start to lineup with two strikers as the season progresses. But, I'm assuming...

The only reason Walker doesn’t start, is because Robins is getting him acclimatised to the system, style of play, his role and so on. Otherwise, I do believe he’s been brought in to be the main striker. Judging on past comments, we’ve looked into signing him every transfer window since MR has...

I agree with that team, but I think Walker starts after his goal yesterday!

    Running

I was on annual leave this week, so I set myself a challenge to run a 5km everyday and I finished my 9 day challenge today. Hit 2 consecutive PBs before the bank holiday Monday, and had 2 pretty slow runs throughout the week. But today, I set out to really push myself and I hit a new PB! 5km...

    MK Dons Player Ratings

That first save was very, very good and a penalty save warrants a 7 or an 8 comfortably. Wasn’t a great pen, but he still guessed the right way! The distribution was uncharacteristically poor, but it didn’t result in a goal, so the 6s is very harsh.

    Dom Hyam

Hyam’s role that season was exactly what MR said it was going to be when he signed. I’m pretty sure both Tom Davies, McDonald and Willis all got injured that season. With the former two with more long term injuries. The result being was that Hyam was needed on the bench and unable to feature...

Exactly. Kelly and Hamer will make a very good partnership in midfield. I’m still confused how McFadz didn’t bury that header!

The way Baka bullied that CB to create his chance is exactly what we’ve been wanting to see from him since he joined! I got a good feeling about Baka this season.

Tyler Walker and Hamer will be important driving this next season. Walker has got the pace to stretch defences and Hamer likes a direct pass from deep. On the whole, I do think we’re going to be a bit more counter-attacking this season.

    Dom Hyam

From MRs quote it said he was signed to ‘push for the 1st team and add depth’ from the get go. He made 14 league appearances all season, so naturally spent a lot of time with the U23s. He was signed as a development player.

They had 5 players out on international duty, with 1 senior play on the bench for them. That had an impact.

    Dom Hyam

We had injuries and for a lot of the season McDonald and Davies were ahead of Hyam in the pecking order. League appearances in 2017/18 for CB: Willis - 35 McDonald - 34 Davies - 21 Hyam - 14 Hyam was very much a junior member of CB department coming into that season. He earned his place...

The MK manager bemoaned that they lost despite ‘controlling the game’. But, even going into the break, we both had 5 shots. By full time, we had more 3 more shots than them. Our counter attacking was decent and thought we looked the more likely to score despite the red card.
