Match Thread Coventry City - Bristol City FC Match Thread - Tuesday 30th Jan

I think we needed Lati for the defensive cover. I don’t think he had the best game either - a square peg in a round hole.

That’s the kind of signing you make when you need a ‘jacket filler’ 😂

Have you considered that we tried and failed getting our top targets in? Better to go without and regroup in the summer if this is a long term project.

Match Thread Coventry City - Bristol City FC Match Thread - Tuesday 30th Jan

He’s had some good defensive interventions but he’s probably just fatigued and could do with a rest. For everyone who’s back Eccles to be a real Top 6 midfielder, the one thing he’s yet to prove (imo) is running a match in his own. No Hamer or Sheaf to dominate. That his next area of...

Match Thread Coventry City - Bristol City FC Match Thread - Tuesday 30th Jan

With Sheaf going off it’s a v good opportunity for Eccles to step up and run game. So far, not so good. He’s playing well but he and Lati are just not creating much. Could do with Simms, Wright and Torp coming on at some point.

I regret getting rid of mine. That said, it did irritate my skin though!

I’ve been joking to friends and family that Robins is my God since promotion from L2.

I honestly don’t think so. It’ll be like a Dyche or Howe situation at Burnley and Bournemouth respectively. He either takes us as far as he can and he gets sacked after a period of managed decline or he walks because he’s taken us as far as he can. If he takes us back up to the Prem and keeps...

    Cup draw

Agreed, we really don’t need to be conceding a soft goal against Maidstone. We need to be ruthless and really batter these. Likewise with Wednesday. A good 2 goal win against Wednesday and follow it up with a crushing win in the 5th round. It just isn’t ‘super Ben Wilson’ in goal anymore.

On the flip side, you want to send a player to a club where they’re almost guaranteed lots of game time. In that sense, we’re just as good a destination.

Match Thread Coventry City - Bristol City FC Match Thread - Tuesday 30th Jan

We do have a habit of catastrophising over each loss. 4 points from our next 2 games is an excellent return. Personally, I think we’ll draw - the congested fixture list will add to that. Thankfully, Brizzle have had a couple more games than us.

Remember when MVE wouldn’t come to us because Leeds were interested? Me too.

    Transfer Rumour Alex Lind

Before the window, MR and Doug King said they’d be bold in the transfer of deals were to be done and also something about . I interpreted this to mean that we’ll try to make ambitious deals but we won’t force things. The club is rightfully content with the squad at the minute. It’s not perfect...

    Sutton put to bed

Seeing how direct Maidstone are and they look to have pacy players, I just can’t see how playing McFadz would be a good idea. A sub appearance after if we were comfortably ahead, sure.

We’d have to go back to 3-4-1-2 which would be bad. I think that system is dead now.

Could’ve been worse, they could have drawn Luton. For them it’s the difference between a 4.5-6k allocation v 1k at Luton.

    Cup draw

You’re fixating on Friday’s result right now. Take it for what is, we drew a game we should’ve won and the consequence of that is that replay the tie at home. That’s an advantage to us. Both teams have important fixtures upcoming.

    Cup draw

Half cup empty kinda person? Hillsborough is a tough place to play and bring Wednesday back to our place. We’re the better team, good home record against a team who’s away record is poor. We’re strong favourites for this one.
